Unity Technologies

The opportunity Unity is the foundation for millions of creators. As Director of Product for Platforms, you will lead the team responsible for how Unity runs on mobile, console, desktop, and web. This is a high-visibility leadership role that requires balancing long-term strategic bets with the rigorous technical execution needed to support a global hardware ecosystem. You will lead a team of Technical PMs while remaining a hands-on practitioner by negotiating with global hardware partners, navigating deep internal dependencies, and ensuring our engine is prepared for the next generation of hardware and AI-assisted workflows. What you'll be doing - Drive Platform Strategy: Own the roadmap for Unity’s platform support. You will analyze market trends to identify emerging platforms and work with executive leadership to determine where Unity should invest for maximum creator impact. - Hands-on Execution: Lead by example as a "player-coach." You will personally author high-stakes strategy documents, dive into technical specifications, and stay close to the details of the engine’s interaction with hardware. - Negotiate & Deliver: Work alongside Business Development to help negotiate platform deals. You will ensure our strategic commitments to hardware partners are technically sound and that we have the internal alignment to deliver them. - Manage Foundational Dependencies: Navigate complex trade-offs across Unity’s product and engineering organizations. You will secure the high-level commitments and resources required to support entire hardware ecosystems, ensuring platform-level stability remains a priority. - Leverage AI: Partner with our R&D teams to define how AI-driven authoring and internal AI tooling will evolve the engine and the Product Management at Unity. - Platform Advocacy: Represent Unity’s platform vision at industry conferences and provide transparent, strategic overviews to our most important global partners and platform holders. - Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of Technical PMs, fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making and technical excellence. What we're looking for - Product Leadership at Scale: 8+ years proven experience leading product strategy and shipping complex, highly technical products (e.g., middleware, OS, developer tools, or large-scale integrations). - Technical Depth: Ability to engage with architects and engineers on topics like APIs, rendering pipelines, and hardware abstraction. - Strategic Diplomacy: Experience managing high-stakes relationships with external partners and the ability to influence internal stakeholders across a large organization. - Execution Excellence: A track record of untangling complex dependencies to ship products. You are comfortable moving from high-level strategy to the finer details when needed. - Adaptability & Curiosity: A strong interest in emerging technologies, particularly the intersection of Generative AI and content creation, and a drive to define how these technologies should be applied. - Exceptional Communication: Ability to distill a multi-year technical roadmap into a compelling narrative for partners, executives, and the developer community.
