The candidate will possess a deep understanding of technical issues, adept troubleshooting skills, and the ability to propose and implement enhancements. This role entails collaborating on the development of data solutions. The incumbent for this position will need an intermediate to advanced development level skillset allowing them to understand complex technologies, systems, standards, and best practices. The incumbent will exhibit a skilled perspective when identifying and delivering effective data solutions, capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Day in the Life: - Work in a fast-paced agile/scrum environment. - Develop basic to complex Business Objects BI Reports & designs to maintain new and existing technology systems following company standards. - Accountable to develop and deliver technical documentation. - Undergo peer code and design reviews to ensure stable and high-quality production-ready code. - Build and maintain data solutions that meet or exceed industry regulatory requirements. - Foster and maintain high collaboration with team members, other technical colleagues, and business partners from across the organization. - Ensure compliance with established SDLC frameworks, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, release management, and deployment. - Ensure compliance with all the audit and security requirements of the company. - Participate and follow established Agile standards (including attending all Agile events) to create a collaborative and efficient development environment and meet project goals and delivery dates. - Ability to lead a team with meeting project commitments, such as project goals, objectives, and corresponding delivery dates. - Ability to provide engineering leadership and mentorship to junior level engineers. - Foster innovation to improve on existing challenges and to realize new opportunities. - Ability to effectively collaborate with Architects to develop and review intended solutions. - Ability to travel as needed to perform position responsibilities. - Availability to be on-call as needed. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related technology field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Seven years professional work experience in SQL based data development required. Teradata database is preferred. - Two years of experience performing as a subject matter expert focused on Business Objects Reporting - Years of experience may be offset by having proficiency in one or more highly specialized technologies or skills. - Proficiency of computer engineering fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms. - Ability to modify existing SQL code and write complex scripts according to standards and best practices. - Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and/or Azure Data Lake is a plus - Ability to gradually take on more development tasks as learning increases. - Advanced understanding of data engineering concepts with knowledge in two or more modern programming languages and proficient with SQL. - Advanced knowledge of data modeling - Leading and authoring of technical specifications and detailed designs. - Ability to review code for complex maintainability, coding standards and security issues. #LI-LM1 About Velera At Velera we are committed to fostering a workplace where every employee feels valued, respected, and connected.
