You’ll be responsible for: - Leading the development of clear, compelling and client‑focused proposal content aligned to the win strategy - Storyboarding responses in partnership with Capture Directors, shaping how Capita’s solution is positioned - Turning complex technical input from SMEs into persuasive, easy‑to‑understand narrative - Owning writing quality from end‑to‑end, ensuring consistency, compliance and impact across submissions - Editing, reviewing and refining content to a high professional standard under tight deadlines - Coaching contributors on proposal best practice and improving overall bid writing capability You’ll work closely with Bid Managers, Capture Directors and Solutions teams within a structured, collaborative bid environment, contributing to some of Capita’s most high‑profile pursuits. You’ll bring: - Proven experience leading the written response for complex, high‑value proposals, ideally within public sector or similarly regulated environments - Outstanding writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the confidence to shape content direction - The ability to interpret technical information and apply judgement rather than relying on boilerplate content - Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence working with senior contributors and SMEs - Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain quality under pressure Experience of Local Government, Regional Partnerships or high‑TCV, long‑cycle public sector bids is highly desirable, as is familiarity with APMP methodologies or best practice. Role Description For The Win, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a jack-of-all-trades editor, writer, video innovator, and on-air personality to serve as a leading voice and part of the leadership team for USA TODAY's social sports website, For The Win. The candidate should feel comfortable at the intersection of sports and internet and ready to help FTW react to the day's news with a mixture of blog posts, columns, listicles, photo galleries, videos, and other story formats. A digital native, the candidate would constantly be exploring new ways to share content with our audience, both on platform and off. That candidate would also help dictate the day-to-day of the site and help with future planning with other editors. We're also looking for someone who can pitch in both on and off camera when it comes to video, leading the way with For The Win and OneTeam Sports in creating, coordinating, and filming clips and shows across the network. We want someone who can be creative, write and think in a conversational style and deliver sharp headlines, who can be a presence on camera too. SEO experience and a strong social media presence are a plus, as is video/podcast experience. While expertise in one sport is great, we want someone who is interested in a little bit of everything and doesn't fear writing on a variety of topics. The position demands initiative, accuracy, urgency, and insight, as well as the ability to identify stories that fit our audience. Quick writing and reporting skills are crucial. This person can juggle both writing, editing, and video work on a daily basis with aplomb while optimizing each post for a digital audience. This role can work remote from any US state, except for Alaska and Hawaii. Responsibilities - Write and edit quickly and clearly, with voice. - Deliver sports and culture news via stories, video, newsletters, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other methods available to reach our audience. - Use metrics to inform story choices and shape beat strategies, including being adept at SEO. - Identify top sports stories of the day based on analytics and audience potential. - Work with fellow editors to experiment with new ways of informing and engaging audiences on social platforms and alternate story forms, including experimenting with long-tail (evergreen) content. - A self-starter who is eager to take the lead on new coverage areas, as well as ambitious projects to grow our brand. - An innovator who is well-versed in what works and doesn't on video, who is adept at thinking on the fly in interviews and who can make it all look easy to audiences who won't swipe through quickly. Qualifications - Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Minimum of 4-7 years' digital journalism experience preferred. - Able to file quickly across platforms: mobile, desktop, and social media. - Strong command of AP grammar and style. - Ability to produce and edit content that is clean, accurate, and "publication ready." - Passionate and enthusiastic about news and content that will work well with audiences on social platforms. - Comfortable in fluid, fast-breaking, stressful situations. - Also comfortable using social media to enhance reporting and promote stories. - Understand reporting ethics and sourcing. - Excel in a fast-paced news environment and understands the digital first mission. - Collaborate well with others and can work with a team, including teammates and colleagues who are remote. - Open to off-typical schedules, including the possibility of early mornings, late nights, and/or weekend work. Able to be flexible as needed. Application Instructions We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role. When you apply, don't limit your upload to a resume; show us what you've done. To do so, put together a single document file that includes the following, in this order: - Your resume - one to two pages. - A cover letter that outlines how you would approach the job. - Links to 3-6 work samples. Show us what you've written, produced, or had a hand in that best reflects what you can do. Please include a link to at least one video clip. It is important that these items be assembled into a single document and uploaded in PDF format. Completing these steps will ensure that your application receives the highest consideration. Compensation The annualized base salary for this role will range between $55,500 and $86,719. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications, and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
