Role Description The Membership Acquisition & Renewals (MA&R) team directly supports Function Health's revenue engine — from a member's first interaction to an inquiry from a small business owner to renewal moments that define long-term impact. As a Membership Acquisition Specialist, you will own inbound prospective member conversations and guide individuals through the decision to join Function. You will focus on converting leads by delivering a thoughtful, responsive, and personalized experience. This role blends elements of sales, lifecycle, and operations. You will not only respond to inbound interest but proactively follow up, identify opportunities to improve conversion, and help shape how Function scales its acquisition funnel through both human and AI-driven experiences. Schedule: This role operates on a shift schedule covering our 7am–10pm ET operating window, Monday through Friday. Specialists are expected to occasionally flex their shift or cover teammates due to PTO, volume surges, or business needs. Key Responsibilities - Own prospective member inbound conversations from initial inquiry through conversion, delivering fast, thoughtful, high-quality responses via chat, email, SMS, and phone. - Proactively follow up with leads using structured, multi-touch outreach to re-engage prospects, reduce drop-off, and move high-intent individuals forward. - Identify and prioritize high-intent opportunities to focus energy where it drives the most conversion. - Continuously test and improve messaging, macros, and outreach sequences — surfacing what's working and what isn't to improve team-wide conversion rates. - Improve chatbot and self-service performance by surfacing common objections, friction points, and gaps in the automated experience. Qualifications - 1–3 years of experience in a customer-facing role — sales, support, customer success, or operations. - Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly and persuasively communicate value. - Comfortable managing multiple conversations simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. - Proactive mindset with strong follow-up and ownership habits. - Ability to identify high-intent opportunities and prioritize accordingly. - Data-driven mindset with interest in improving conversion and performance metrics. - Familiarity with tools like Intercom or similar customer communication platforms. - Comfortable with a shift schedule covering our 7am–10pm ET operating window, Monday through Friday, including occasional shift flexibility to cover teammates for PTO, volume surges, or business needs. Nice-to-Have Skills and Experiences - Experience in high-volume inbound sales or conversion-focused roles. - Experience with lead nurturing or funnel optimization. - Experience working with AI tools or chatbots in customer interactions. - Startup or high-growth company experience. - Genuine interest in proactive health — you use or would use a product like Function. Core Values - Ruthless Prioritization: We don’t let perfect get in the way of progress. We move quickly to drive value, not perfection. We prioritize what drives impact. We never compromise on standards of excellence. - Member-First, Always: We design and deliver like we’re caring for someone we love. We create calendar, actionable, human experience. We prioritize responsiveness, peace of mind, and outcomes. We empower members with truth, clarity, and care. - One Team, Moving Fast: We are aligned in purpose, prioritization, and speed. We gather diverse perspectives to make informed decisions. We clear paths for each other and move fast together. We communicate clearly and respectfully, rallying around shared goals. - Radical Ownership, Relentless Execution: We don’t just ship– we own outcomes and drive results. We act with urgency and precision. We anticipate, initiate, and follow through. We meet challenges with grit and pragmatism. We embrace new tech to deliver better outcomes. - Mission Over Ego: We are ruthlessly aligned to our mission– and leave ego at the door. We disagree and commit. We don't tolerate politics or withholding information. We operate with honesty, transparency, and respect. - Sustained Integrity in Every Detail: We earn trust by obsessing over accuracy, quality, and clarity in everything we do. We prioritize clinical precision– data must be right. We sweat the details because outcomes depend on them.
