Job Description
Creative Director
Deer Designer
Role Description You’re the person who makes “reliable and always available” true in real life. You lead a team of designers, keep quality consistent across multiple brands, and make sure work ships on time without turning the team into pixel zombies. This is a player-coach role: you’ll direct, review, unblock, and occasionally design when it matters most. What you’ll own (outcomes) - Quality consistency at scale: every deliverable meets brand standards, feels intentional, and doesn’t trigger “who approved this?” energy. - On-time delivery: priorities are clear, deadlines are realistic, and the team ships predictably. - Team performance: designers are productive, improving, and not quietly drowning. - Client confidence: clients feel like they have a real design leader, not “a random designer who happens to be online.” Qualifications - 5+ years in design with 1–3+ years leading creatives (agency, subscription, or in-house). - Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma and Canva fluency. - Strong English communication (spoken and written). - Strong brand judgment, typography, composition, and art direction. - Confident reviewer: your feedback is specific, actionable, and fast. - Calm operator energy: you keep quality high under load. - Experience managing multiple brands/projects at once. Requirements - Creative leadership and direction: set and maintain creative standards for the team, translate messy briefs into clear direction, establish reusable systems. - Quality control: review work before it goes out, coach designers through feedback, define what “great” looks like. - Delivery management: triage incoming requests, assign work based on skill and context, unblock work fast, communicate risks early. - Client-facing collaboration: join key client calls, proactively spot gaps, turn client feedback into better systems. - Team leadership and coaching: lead weekly team syncs, run feedback loops, maintain team morale and momentum. - Process and continuous improvement: improve briefing quality, identify recurring friction, collaborate on workflows. Benefits - Monthly Rate: $1100 USD (negotiable based on experience). - Paid Time Off: 15 PTO days + 10 unpaid days + 2 sick days (after 6 months). - Work Anniversary Gifts: performance bonuses, and career growth. - Flexible Hours: async-friendly team culture. - Work from anywhere: all you need is Wi-Fi.
