This role requires both creative design expertise and technical CMS implementation skills. The Website Designer will develop wireframes, build pages in content management systems, customize styling with HTML/CSS, and ensure websites are optimized for speed, SEO, and conversions. Responsibilities: - Website Design & Layouts: - Create wireframes and high-fidelity mockups in Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD. - Translate design concepts into responsive website layouts. - CMS Development & Customization: - Build and update websites on platforms like WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, or Shopify. - Customize themes/templates with HTML, CSS, and light JavaScript. - Manage plugins, widgets, and integrations. - Optimization & SEO: - Ensure websites are optimized for performance, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness. - Implement on-page SEO best practices (meta tags, alt text, heading structure). - Run speed audits using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, or Lighthouse. - Testing & QA: - Test sites across multiple devices, screen sizes, and browsers. - Troubleshoot bugs, formatting issues, or plugin conflicts. - Collaboration & Feedback: - Work with marketing and content teams to align site design with campaigns. - Incorporate feedback from stakeholders into revisions while maintaining design integrity. - File Management & Maintenance: - Keep site design assets organized. - Ensure CMS platforms are regularly updated and secure. What Makes You a Perfect Fit: - Strong design eye with a technical mindset. - Able to balance aesthetics with usability and performance. - Organized and methodical in testing and revisions. - Collaborative and comfortable working with marketing, content, and development teams. Required Experience & Skills (Minimum): - 2+ years of professional website design experience. - Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch). - Experience building and customizing sites on at least one CMS (WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace). - Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS. Ideal Experience & Skills: - Experience designing for e-commerce (Shopify, WooCommerce). - Basic JavaScript or front-end development skills. - Familiarity with Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and SEO optimization. - Industry experience with B2B SaaS, marketing agencies, or e-commerce brands. What Does a Typical Day Look Like? A Website Designer’s day revolves around turning design concepts into functional, optimized websites. You will: - Design layouts and prototypes that capture brand identity and user experience goals. - Build and customize sites in CMS platforms, applying HTML/CSS for advanced styling. - Run performance and SEO audits, making adjustments to improve load times and visibility. - Test sites across devices and browsers to ensure flawless user experiences. - Collaborate with marketing and content teams to align design updates with campaigns. - Maintain and update websites to ensure security, responsiveness, and brand alignment. In essence: you make sure websites are visually engaging, user-friendly, high-performing, and aligned with business objectives.
