Job Description We are seeking a Pre‑Sales Technical Engineer – Renewables to support our national sales team across Solar Panels, Inverters, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Mounting and BOS products. Reporting to the National Business Manager – Renewables & EV, you will play a key role in supporting sales strategies, achieving operational targets, and contributing to the success of our customers. What you’ll be doing Customer & Sales Support - Build and maintain strong customer relationships, enhancing their understanding of our full renewables product offering - Manage existing accounts while identifying new opportunities for growth - Support the front‑end sales team with technical expertise and solution development - Communicate value propositions clearly to both current and prospective customers Technical & Pre‑Sales Responsibilities - Provide accurate product and system selection guidance across solar and battery solutions - Prepare technical and commercial proposals in collaboration with the Specialist Sales Team - Develop concepts, options and bills of materials based on customer requirements - Ensure all quotes are accurately costed and submitted for timely review - Deliver pre‑sale technical support, including product knowledge, stock availability and pricing Operational & Collaboration - Work closely with branch teams, external suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure solution matches offer plan - Plan and track sales opportunities using CRM tools - Report on customer activity, market intelligence and progress - Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times Qualifications - The Solar Specialist: Deep knowledge of CEC-approved products, from string inverters to complex BESS configurations. - The Designer: You don't just use OpenSolar or similar; you understand the *why* behind the design. - The Translator: You can take a complex technical manual and explain the value to a customer or a sales rep in plain English. Conduct product and application training for Regional Sales Managers (RSM’s) and Engineered Systems Distributors (ESD’s) and Radio System Integrators to develop sales competencies to achieve desired growth. Participate in meetings with ESD’s, Radio System Integrators, Engineers and AHJ’s as required. Support sales productivity across all channels and deal flow by securing the “technical close” in any kind of project. Assist in the development of formal technical sales proposals and present and differentiate product offerings at a technical level from the competition. Keep up to date with new company products as well as industry/competitor trends. Attending conferences, lectures, seminars, and workshops to improve your skills and knowledge. Conduct market research and obtain feedback from clients to improve existing products.
