Job Description Key Responsibilities: - Thought Leadership - Provide profit driven thought leadership to the Nationwide E&S/Specialty and Commercial Lines organizations on market trends in data usage, pricing, coverage, and appetite. Acquire and leverage market intelligence to compare to peers' and position designated products to ensure a competitive fit for partners/customers. - Operational Excellence - Establish and maintain Property portfolio best practices across Nationwide E&S/Specialty and Commercial Lines. Lead underwriting process improvements, underwriting guideline enhancements, training and referrals as needed. Assist with underwriting audits as needed by the Quality Team. Working with the Reinsurance team to assist placement as needed. - Portfolio Optimization - Develop effective collaboration with Pricing Actuaries and ERM CAT team to ensure pricing, geographic exposure distribution, and peril risks are adequately priced, controlled and monitored. Assist in accumulation management across all CAT exposures. - Talent Development - Lead Nationwide E&S/Specialty and Commercial Lines associates on future of work skill development and education along with team effectiveness and development. - Participate in business review at a portfolio, product, and key account level. Engage in execution of corrective action plans to achieve profitability targets May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships: Reports to SVP. Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Undergraduate degree required in Business, Finance, Insurance, Economics, Statistics, or related field. Experience: 15+ years of Property line of business underwriting, including CAT; regulatory, analytics, rate/rule/and form filings and profitability management is preferred. Experience in commercial lines, admitted and non-admitted, including shared and layered is also preferred. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Expert knowledge of Property, Inland Marine, and crime for both admitted and non-admitted underwriting, risk and regulatory environment. Technical underwriting, product and insurance carrier value chain expertise, advanced analytics, modeling and data fluency. Expertly demonstrates a strategic mindset, organizational and interpersonal savvy, strong written and verbal communication skills, along with an ability to negotiate and influence others, and drive vision and purpose.
