Network Specialist
NexGen Data Systems, Inc.
• Serve as primary on-site 24/7 network support contact for assigned MTF • Perform daily network infrastructure operations and maintenance activities • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, wireless access points, and controllers • Create and manage VLANs in accordance with DHA Zone Architecture Requirements • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and coordinate with GSC for escalations • Install, test, terminate, and certify network cabling (material provided by Government) • Perform device configuration and firmware updates per DHA standards • Support network monitoring via SolarWinds NPM and ensure 100% device compliance • Conduct monthly hardware inventory validations for Asset Management (CDRL A010) • Respond to and resolve Tier 0 trouble tickets without GSC escalation • Coordinate with site staff on network-related activities and service impacts • Support DHA Infrastructure Modernization hardware refresh initiatives • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support at assigned site.
Job Requirements
- Active Department of Defense Secret level security clearance required.
- DoD Approved 8570 / 8140 OS and Cybersecurity certifications required.
- REQUIRED: Security+ and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent (i.e., BCNE for Brocade, etc.).
- 2-3 years network support or IT infrastructure experience
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline and 2 years OR Technical/Vocational certification and 3 years
- Proficient in TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, and basic routing protocols
- Working knowledge of Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper switch/router configuration
- Understanding of 802.1d/q/w, 802.3, 802.11 wireless, communication standards
- Hands-on with SolarWinds for monitoring and basic troubleshooting
- Basic network security awareness: firewalls, VPN concepts
- Cable termination, certification tools, and physical layer troubleshooting
- Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet operations
- Windows OS, basic Active Directory troubleshooting
- ServiceNow ticket management and documentation
- Understanding of medical facility network requirements.
