Title: Senior Accountant Location: Inland Imaging Business Center Full time Job Description: Base Pay Range: $74,988.52 - $112,482.78 Job Description: The Senior Accountant will work Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. This position is onsite Tuesday-Thursday at our Business Center located in Downtown Spokane, with the option to work remotely Monday and Friday. Summary: The Senior Accountant is a high-impact individual contributor responsible for the financial reporting, analysis, and accounting operations for one or more designated companies within the Inland Imaging family. This role demands the rigor and precision of public accounting combined with commercial acumen and intellectual curiosity. The Senior Accountant will own the full cycle of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; prepare and analyze financial statements; support budgeting and forecasting; and deliver actionable insights to leadership through variance analysis and financial modeling. The right candidate will progressively take on broader responsibilities, including review of accounting staff work, cross-entity financial reporting, and strategic financial projects. We are seeking a proven professional from public accounting’s assurance practice—someone who has led or materially contributed to audits and reviews of annual financial statements for public or private companies—and is ready to bring that discipline, work ethic, and analytical capability to a dynamic, multi-entity healthcare organization. Financial Reporting and Close: - Own and execute all components of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. - Prepare complete monthly financial reporting packages including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and cost accounting profit and loss statements. - Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules with a level of documentation consistent with audit-ready standards. - Maintain and monitor general ledgers, ensuring all postings are accurate, properly classified, and compliant with GAAP. - Review and approve the posting of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll subsidiary ledgers. Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting: - Prepare the annual operational and capital budget for assigned companies, working closely with operational leaders and the Director, Accounting. - Perform detailed variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and prior periods, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. - Build and maintain complex financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses using advanced Excel functions (INDEX/MATCH, SUMPRODUCT, array formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and similar tools). - Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as requested by leadership, translating raw data into clear, decision-ready insights. - Support FP&A initiatives including trend analysis, KPI tracking, and long-range financial planning. Operational Accounting and Controls: - Perform bank reconciliations and oversee cash management activities for assigned entities. - Prepare financial information and supporting workpapers for external audits, income tax preparation, and regulatory or agency requests. - Prepare excise tax reports and other compliance filings as required. - Identify, document, and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls, increase efficiency, and reduce risk. - Assist with the implementation and optimization of accounting software systems and ERP tools. - Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to streamline accounting workflows, enhance data analysis, and drive efficiency across reporting and close processes. Leadership Development and Collaboration: - Review the work of other accounting team members, providing constructive feedback and ensuring deliverables meet the standards expected in a public accounting environment. - Serve as a technical resource and mentor within the accounting department, assisting with training and problem resolution across teams. - Attend and actively participate in company finance meetings, cross-departmental projects, and strategic planning sessions. - Proactively identify accounting issues, errors, or risks and resolve them independently or escalate with a recommended solution. Once fully onboarded, this role is expected to operate with significant autonomy. - Take on special financial projects and additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Accounting or senior leadership. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not carry direct supervisory responsibility at hire. However, the Senior Accountant will progressively assume review and oversight duties, including reviewing the product of other accountants and contributing to performance feedback. Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. A master’s degree in accounting, finance, or an MBA is a plus. - Experience: - 4 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience required. - Public accounting experience in assurance is required. Candidates should have performed or led audits and/or reviews of annual financial statements for public or private companies at a Big 4, national, or strong regional firm. Experience with employee benefit plan (EBP) audits, tax, or consulting alone does not satisfy this requirement. - Must have been promoted to Senior Accountant or Manager level within a public accounting firm, demonstrating a track record of increasing responsibility and leadership. - Demonstrated experience reviewing the work of others against professional standards (e.g., GAAS, PCAOB, or equivalent quality frameworks). - Financial planning and analysis (FP&A) experience is highly preferred, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling. - Healthcare, multi-entity, or professional services industry experience is preferred. - Advanced Excel proficiency is required: complex formulas, data analysis tools, pivot tables, Power Query, and financial modeling capabilities. - Licensure & Certifications: Active CPA license preferred. Candidates who have passed the CPA exam or are in process are also encouraged to apply. - Computer Skills/Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
