Senior Engineer – HVDC System Engineering

• Interpret the customer’s technical enquiry and to design the most cost-effective overall solution for an HVDC installation utilizing the power electronics solutions • Develop an integrated scheme design that meets the Customer’s needs, by developing requirements on the ratings and functionalities of the different HVDC system’s subsystems • Insulation Coordination Studies and determine the temporary and transient overvoltage stresses on HV equipment and provide the protective level requirements for the surge arresters • Manage the lifecycle of high economic value High Voltage equipment such as power transformers, instrument transformers, reactors, capacitors, and surge arresters • Create, verify, and validate the electrical power losses models for HVDC systems and subsystems • Report or resolve any non-conformances in a timely manner • Actively and routinely promote the identification of hazards and near misses to their teams
Job Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical, Electronics, or Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution
- 8 years of proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of Power Systems Engineering and preferably in HVDC System Design/Studies
- 20% travels to customer and/or supplier sites internationally
- Experience execution large and complex substation/plant projects
- Master's degree in Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Mentoring mindset to develop and grow technical talent
- Technical Leadership: understanding of customer need, problem solving, creativity and innovation, relationship management, operational oversight and accountability, engineering instinct
- Negotiation: capable of resolving points of difference, to gain advantage for an individual or collective, or crafting outcomes to satisfy various interests
- Team Dynamics and Facilitation: Ability to be a team player and to facilitate groups interactions

Role Description The IT Systems Engineer II provides advanced Tier II support by troubleshooting and repairing network devices, tools, and services for a nationwide fiber optic transport network as well as network support for two (2) geographically separated Network Operation Centers (NOC). The IT System Engineer II is operationally responsible for all IP and network management applications associated with the IP and transport platforms and maintaining 100% availability of IP and Network Management services in engineering and operations environment. Main Responsibilities - Perform Transport Network Management functions in engineering and operations environment; operates as a technical SME. - Work Tier-2 trouble escalations for SONET, OTN, and DWDM troubles. - Troubleshoot and coordinate Tier-2 Network Implementations projects; serves as technical POC for service provisioning, configurations, and Test and Turn-up processes. - Interface with Lead Engineers with network requirements and designs. - Work and coordinate Tier-2 Network deactivation and decommission of Transport SONET, OTN, DWDM transport devices. - Write and maintain technical operational documentation and SOP for Transport discipline supporting the NOC. - Develop and maintain Circuit Layout Records, Network Diagrams, and other supporting documentation. - Review and provide feedback to network as-built, Engineering Development Plans, and configuration management drawings.
