• Develop and prototype cloud‑native analytics solutions using Power BI (Desktop, Service), DAX, Power Query (M), dataflows, deployment pipelines, and Snowflake components including schemas, virtual warehouses, roles, tasks/streams, and performance services. • Lead full‑cycle development (SDLC + agile) of secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient analytics, including design, build, test, documentation, and support. • Implement governance controls including row‑level and object‑level security, data endorsements, versioning, and reliable refresh pipelines. • Perform source‑to‑target mapping and design star/snowflake models optimized for analytics and semantic modeling. • Build semantic layers and governed calculation frameworks (DAX measures, calculation groups). • Optimize model and query performance using aggregations, incremental refresh, model size tuning, and Snowflake performance strategies (clustering, caching). • Write medium to complex SQL queries for data validation, quality checks, and in-depth analysis. • Operationalize production pipelines, schedules, workflows, alerting/monitoring, and SLAs. • Provide Level 3 support (ServiceNow), including triage, root‑cause analysis, and stable release management. • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements, lead design workshops, and produce actionable prototypes and wireframes. • Design high‑value dashboards, reports, and analytics that provide product insights and operational decision support. • Own end‑to‑end design for visualization, reporting, and dashboard solutions that power product insights and operational decision‑making. • Communicate proactively with teams and stakeholders; escalate risks early to ensure on‑time delivery. • Champion quality, standards, and continuous improvement through architecture/code reviews, operational documentation, and usage/cost awareness across workloads. • Research emerging cloud analytics capabilities and ensure compliance with required training and SOPs (e.g., GCP, 21 CFR Part 11, CAPA). • Explore new opportunities to add value through automation, standardization, and measurement. • Support teammates to achieve shared outcomes; perform other duties as assigned. • Maintain version-controlled BI assets using GitLab (commit, push, merge requests, resolving conflicts) • Use Jira for sprint planning, task updates, story tracking, and collaboration within Agile teams. • Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure accurate and consistent data flows. • Support root-cause analysis for data discrepancies reported by business users. • Participate in patch releases, including validation, deployment coordination, and documentation • Maintain strong, current knowledge of cloud analytics, Power BI, Snowflake, data engineering patterns (ELT/ETL), data governance, and security.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5 to 8 years delivering data warehousing/data analytics solutions, including 3 to 4 years with Power BI and Snowflake.
- Proven success designing enterprise dashboards and user‑centric analytic solutions.
- Expertise in Power BI development (DAX, Power Query, semantic modeling, dataflows, RLS/OLS, incremental refresh, deployment pipelines).
- Strong Snowflake capabilities (database/warehouse design, RBAC, warehouse optimization, tasks/streams, resource monitors, cost management).
- Strong SQL and relational modeling skills (Snowflake, Oracle; MS SQL Server a plus).
- Experience operationalizing cloud BI (scheduling, orchestration, monitoring, alerts, SLA management).
- Exposure to Data Governance, Stewardship, and MDM concepts; Reltio experience is a plus.
- Understanding of security, data architecture, analytics engineering, and structured SDLC practices.
- Experience in healthcare/life sciences data is preferred.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) and modern lake/lakehouse architectures is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and problem‑solving abilities.

Job Description The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent research organization at the University of Washington (UW). Its mission is to deliver to the world timely, relevant, and scientifically valid evidence to improve health policy and practice. IHME carries out its mission through a range of projects within different research areas including the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD), Injuries, and Risk Factors; Future Health Scenarios; Cost Effectiveness and Efficiency; Resource Tracking; and Impact Evaluations. IHME has an excellent opportunity for a Researcher on the Integrated Analytics team. IHME Researchers analyze and produce key estimates for their assigned research team and will assess all available quantitative data – including those on causes of death, epidemiology, and a range of determinants such as education and income – from surveys, vital registration, censuses, literature, registries, and administrative records. Using established modeling tools and through creation of novel code, Researchers incorporate all relevant data to produce the most up-to-date and scientifically credible results. You will be integrally involved in producing, critiquing, improving, and disseminating results. You already have a command of epidemiology, statistics, disease modeling, or related interests, and we will help you develop an understanding of our core research and methodology. Our Researchers work with data and research professionals at all levels, and with external collaborators to take part in the intellectual exchange about how to improve upon and disseminate the results.
