Role Description As a member of the School of Access, Education and Language faculty team, you will: - Provide theoretical and practical instruction in the online asynchronous full-time Early Childhood Education diploma program. - Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students using a broad range of flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies such as Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace) and classroom technology. - Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in your classroom, shops, and labs. - Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and continually develop your understanding of 21st-century teaching and learning practices. - Engage in different delivery modalities (e.g., in-class, online, blended online/in-class), off-site instruction, and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings. - Perform related duties including academic and career advisement, participating on committees, program marketing, curriculum revision/development, supporting and monitoring work placements, liaising with business and industry, representing the College as required, and upholding NSCC policies and procedures. Qualifications - The minimum educational qualification is a relevant post-secondary degree or a 2-year Early Childhood Education Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution and a Nova Scotia Level 2 ECE Certification. - Nova Scotia Level 3 ECE Certification would be considered an asset. - Minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in early childhood education. - Familiarity with computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems like Brightspace. - Experience teaching online asynchronous classes in an adult learning environment is considered an asset. - Demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field. - Comfortable working in a digital environment and committed to using technology to enhance student experience. - Ideally, related experience in the delivery of educational programs or training to adults. - Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and occupation-specific safety practices. - Ability to teach effectively in an online/blended environment and willingness to participate in training for this delivery model.
