About the role What You'll Do and Who You'll Work With: Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for: 1. Electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects, facility upgrades 2. Electrical design support for Planned outages, and design requirements related to equipment troubleshooting 3. Business development/expansion projects at various operating facilities. This position will also lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network. The Engineer will provide subject matter expertise and lead cross functional teams while driving technical standardization as a guardian of certain Electrical Design Standards for Reworld. Acting as a potential mentor for more junior members of the team, the Engineer will share best practices and technical expertise. This is a unique opportunity to work across stakeholders and groups, with high visibility in the organization and will have direct, tangible impact on our success. You will also act as a primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business. Location/Travel: Preferred location for this role is at our Florham Park, NJ Headquarters This position requires close collaboration with corporate functions and facilities and will include ~20% travel across the network. Travel to Domestic locations as well as LCC (Low-Cost-Countries) such as China, may be required. A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Florham Parkn and across the network. The compensation would vary depending on the location. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Design (Core Responsibility) - Independently Develop/Review/Approve Electrical System Design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Voltage Drop Calculations, Coordination Studies. - Develop scope of work for Electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors. - Plans design tasks so both the design and construction will be achieved within budget constraints and schedule. - May assume the duties of technical lead and subject matter expert for small to medium capital programs. - Electrical Design scope includes System Design, Scope Development, Engineering Calculations, Specifications, and Risk Assessments for HV, MV systems (Switchgears, transformers, Motor Control Centers, Relay/Protection Systems). Engineering Standards: (Core Responsibility) - Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications for engineering design. - Guardian of Key Electrical Design Standards/Specifications as SME for Reworld Electrical Team. - Update design standards and specifications periodically to keep up with the industry best practices, regulatory developments etc. - Commissioning/Startup: - Provide SME design support to Project Managers on assigned construction projects Provide engineering support for commissioning and installations for assigned design projects Troubleshooting/Problem Solving: - Provides Electrical Engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations. Analyze Electrical failure root causes and develop cost effective technical solutions for RCAs. Position Requirements: Qualifications: - Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited Institution. Minimum 10 years engineering experience. - Registered Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain future licensure is preferred. Experience: - Must have experience with High, Medium & Low Voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants or large industrial co-generation facilities or Design/Architectural Engineering firms. - Must be able to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision. - Must have proficiency in developing and understanding One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, GA drawings related to interconnections, substations, power plants and electrical aspects of process plants including but not limited to motors, MCCs, PDCs and other electrical equipment. - Must have experience with all phases of a project including preliminary conceptual system design, scoping, detailed design, equipment selection, equipment testing and start-up problem resolution. (The equipment includes substation equipment, power plant equipment and process plant equipment. The voltage ranges vary from HV(>100KV) to low voltage (480V).) - Experience with protective relaying schemes (Medium Voltage) including coordination and development of relay settings. SEL relays experience is highly preferred. - Proficiency in engineering software such as CAD/AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Powertools, SEL Acselerator, etc. - Must have effective written and oral communication skills; must be able to analyze data, write technical reports, and develop work packages to implement In addition to salary, this role is eligible for benefits. Qualifications We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.   Essential skills and experience: - This position requires a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree. - 7 or more years experience in the design of Medium Voltage Power Systems. - Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. - Experience tracking project information such as: schedules and expenditures against budgets, preparing status reports and client interface. - Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. - Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others. - Proficiency with MS Office applications.  Valued but not required skills and experience: - A Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering degree is preferrable. - A degree from an ABET accredited engineering program. - 3 or more years experience in the design of substations 138kV and above. - Ability to prepare substation grounding calculations, direct stroke shielding calculations, battery & charger sizing calculations, etc. - Physical layout and protection & controls experience. - Ability to work with Designer to develop substation single line diagrams, relaying & metering diagrams, DC schematic diagrams, substation plan & sections, grounding plans, etc. - Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards as they relate to substation design. This includes the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI – C2). - PE license. - AutoCAD experience.
