So you can be sure your assets or infrastructure is designed, built, and operated safely and sustainably. While deployed in the field, the airborne sensor operator is responsible for operating airborne remote sensors or cameras to collect data. In addition, the operator is responsible for setting up ground-based GPS stations and downloading and shipping data and film. While in the office, the operator may be responsible for QCing data or other duties as assigned. This role can function fully remotely with the expectation of consistent, rotational travel schedules. Job Responsibilities - Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk. - While deployed, airborne remote sensors or cameras are used to collect data. - While deployed, set up a ground-based GPS station. - While deployed, download and ship data or film gathered after mission completion. - While in the office, perform QC of data sets. - Generate and/or review flight plants for data acquisition missions. Prepare post-mission flight logs and reports. - Assist the Aerial Survey Pilot in exercising professional judgment at the job site in determining conditions and procedures under which data collection will be performed. - Perform initial quality assessment in the field to ensure data meets client specifications. Coordinate with the Aviation Manager to determine if re-flights are required. - Operate computer-managed flight navigation systems, GPS Geodetic base stations, and any Fugro Geospatial Inc. film cameras, lidar sensors, or digital cameras. - Apply specialized knowledge in using industry and proprietary software to accomplish in-office data processing and quality control. - May be assigned or responsible for updating Quality Management procedures on aerial sensor operation. - Remain current on changes within the industry through publications, periodicals, technical meetings conference attendance, and continuing education. - Project a professional appearance and cooperative attitude, and always maintain high ethical standards of confidentiality in representing the company to ensure a professional representation. - Comply and promote the requirements of the company's documented quality system. - Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: - Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions. - High School Diploma is required, two years of college/technical training or equivalent experience preferred. - BS degree in earth sciences or a technology specialty desired. - Have a fundamental knowledge of computer operations and the aptitude to operate high-tech sensors during flight as well as data processing software in the office or hotel room. - Be willing to travel up to extensively, for long periods, with minimal notice. - Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to travel internationally (ability to acquire a passport or visa). - The ability to work in light aircraft for an extended duration. - The ability to read and understand maps. - The ability to efficiently utilize accepted tools of the trade, i.e., GPS receivers, sensors, computers, computer screens, and keyboards.
