Role Summary We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Associate Software Engineer to join our Order, Trade, and Compliance (OTC) Technology Team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about technology and eager to learn and grow in a dynamic and collaborative environment. As an Associate Software Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and other team members to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support the company's core investment management (portfolio management, trading, and compliance) operations. The role reports to the Director - Order, Trade and Compliance. This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, MO office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. How You Will Make an Impact - Full-Stack Development: Assist in the development of both front-end and back-end components of our applications, ensuring seamless integration and functionality. - Programming: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java, with opportunities to work with other languages such as Python. - Database Management: Work with relational databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle) to design, implement, and optimize data storage solutions. - Agile Methodologies: Participate in SAFe Agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. - Version Control: Use Git and GitHub for source control, ensuring code integrity and collaboration. - Testing and Debugging: Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the quality and reliability of the codebase. - Collaboration: Work closely with other developers, participate in code reviews, and provide constructive feedback to peers. - Learning and Development: Know the latest industry trends and best practices and continuously seek opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. - Support: Support and directly interact with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Compliance officers, and others. What You Bring to the Team (Required) - Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Experience: 0-2 years of hands-on corporate experience developing software. - Programming Skills: Proficiency in Java or similar languages (e.g., Python, C#). - Database Knowledge: Understanding of SQL and experience with relational databases. - Agile Knowledge: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. - Version Control: Experience with Git or other version control systems. - Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and troubleshoot complex issues. - Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. - Demonstrates the American Century Investments Winning Behaviors: Client Focused, Courageous and Accountable, Collaborative, Curious and Adaptable, Competitively Driven.
