Job Title: VoIP Network Engineer Position Type: Full-Time, Remote Working Hours: U.S. business hours (EST) About the Role We are seeking an experienced VoIP Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain reliable VoIP infrastructure while supporting both internal systems and client deployments. This role focuses on VoIP system architecture, SIP troubleshooting, PBX platform management, and network optimization. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with SIP-based communications, multi-tenant VoIP platforms, and telecom networking fundamentals. You will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality voice performance, system reliability, and secure VoIP operations while working closely with clients, carriers, and internal teams to deliver scalable voice solutions. Responsibilities VoIP System Architecture & Deployment - Design, deploy, and maintain VoIP infrastructure including SIP trunking, PBX systems, and unified communications platforms. - Configure and deploy VoIP hardware and software such as IP phones, gateways, softphones, and session border controllers. - Manage both multi-tenant cloud VoIP environments and dedicated hosted PBX systems. - Lead VoIP migrations and onboarding processes for new clients or internal teams. - Integrate VoIP platforms with CRM systems and other business applications. SIP Troubleshooting & Network Diagnostics - Perform packet captures using Wireshark and analyze SIP traffic to diagnose call quality issues such as dropped calls, one-way audio, or registration failures. - Troubleshoot network-related VoIP issues including latency, jitter, packet loss, and NAT traversal problems. - Monitor VoIP network performance and system uptime to maintain reliable voice services. - Investigate interoperability issues between carriers, SIP trunk providers, and VoIP platforms. PBX Platform Management - Manage and maintain PBX platforms including FreePBX, Asterisk, SkySwitch, CoreDial, 3CX, Cisco CUCM, Avaya, or similar systems. - Support configuration and maintenance of both hosted and on-premise VoIP systems. - Optimize PBX configurations to ensure reliable performance and scalability. Network Configuration & Optimization - Configure and maintain VLANs and Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize voice traffic across the network. - Work with network teams to ensure proper bandwidth allocation and traffic routing for voice services. - Troubleshoot network infrastructure issues that impact VoIP performance. Linux System Administration - Manage VoIP infrastructure running on Linux-based environments. - Use the Linux command line to troubleshoot system issues, manage permissions, and maintain server stability. - Maintain system updates, patches, and configuration changes. Security & Fraud Prevention - Implement VoIP security best practices including SIP security, toll fraud prevention, and firewall protection. - Configure security tools such as fail2ban and firewall rules to protect the platform from unauthorized access. - Manage and configure Session Border Controllers to secure voice communications. Client & Carrier Collaboration - Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for VoIP-related issues. - Work directly with telecom carriers and upstream providers for provisioning and troubleshooting. - Assist internal teams with technical consultations and VoIP solution design. - Support carrier-related processes such as number porting and circuit provisioning. Process Improvement & Documentation - Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for VoIP provisioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. - Document system configurations, network diagrams, and infrastructure changes. - Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, call quality, and operational efficiency. What Makes You a Perfect Fit - Strong technical expertise in SIP-based VoIP systems and telecom infrastructure. - Comfortable diagnosing complex call quality issues and network-related VoIP problems. - Highly analytical and capable of troubleshooting issues across VoIP platforms, networking layers, and operating systems. - Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage projects independently. - Focused on improving system reliability and maintaining high-quality voice communications. Required Experience & Skills (Minimum) - 3–5+ years of experience in VoIP engineering or telecommunications. - Strong expertise in SIP protocol and related technologies including RTP, SRTP, and WebRTC. - Hands-on experience analyzing VoIP traffic and troubleshooting issues using tools such as Wireshark or SIP diagnostic tools. - Proven experience managing PBX platforms such as FreePBX, Asterisk, SkySwitch, CoreDial, 3CX, Cisco CUCM, Avaya, or similar systems. - Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, NAT, firewalls, and Quality of Service (QoS). - Experience configuring and managing Session Border Controllers. - Experience working with SIP trunk providers and telecom carriers. - Strong Linux system administration experience in VoIP environments. Ideal Experience & Skills - Experience with scripting or automation using Python or Bash. - Experience integrating VoIP platforms with CRMs or business tools using APIs or webhooks. - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - Experience working with enterprise Session Border Controllers such as Ribbon, AudioCodes, or Kamailio. - Experience supporting number portability and telecom carrier provisioning workflows. What Does a Typical Day Look Like? A VoIP Engineer’s day focuses on maintaining reliable voice infrastructure and resolving technical issues that impact communication systems. You will research and troubleshoot VoIP issues, monitor system performance, configure PBX platforms, collaborate with telecom carriers, and implement improvements to ensure high-quality voice communications. In essence, you are responsible for ensuring that the organization’s VoIP infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and highly reliable. Role Description Trillium Health Resources has a career opening for a Network Auditing Coordinator to join our team! The Network Coordinator will support the development and management of the Provider Network for members who have been identified as having Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Substance Use needs and will be responsible for overseeing the monitoring activities of the provider network. This position will be responsible for maintaining knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Accreditation requirements and ensuring that the organization maintains compliance with these requirements. On a typical day, you might: - Maintain network quality by performing provider monitoring to ensure compliance with rules, regulations and service definition requirements. - Facilitate the resolution of deficiencies through the issuance, review and acceptance of Plans of Corrections (POC) and monitoring implementation of these plans. - Establish a partnership and collaboration with Trillium Health Resources Network providers by providing technical assistance/guidance, facilitating communication, and possible inclusion in various committees as necessary. - Conduct quality audits in an objective, systematic, unbiased manner.
