The Sales Engineer (SE) is a member of the Project Engineering Electronic Security Systems (ESS) team and a supporting contributor to the support of client design projects. The SE reports directly to the Director of ESS Engineering. The SE will provide support through the design project life cycle from sales concept to design development, construction drawings to construction administration support. As a technical resource on a project team, you will be instrumental in the determination and execution of client and system requirements and will collaborate with support teams to bring your design to life. Through our groundbreaking workflow, you’ll have access to incredible technology and tools to help you articulate and deliver your design while being supported by global resources. The SE will be supported and mentored by Senior Design Engineers and will maintain both primary and supportive roles on complex ESS projects through direction of the Director of ESS Engineering. Primary Responsibilities: - Contributor for complex engagements and works directly with clients and the Design Engineering team to develop specifications, designs, budgets, timelines and manage expectations. - Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements - Provide general guidance on security systems and coordination information to support the architecture, installation and planning of electronic security solutions - Knowledge of and ability to use AutoCAD, Revit, BIM and/or MS Office 365 - Oversee and/or develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and support documentation. - Ability to interpret 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC drawings during takeoff and team review processes. - Conduct Review Calls with internal and external teams to discuss BOM(s) and supporting documentation. - Ability to use complex pricing tools and adjust based off specific/changing requirements. - Understanding of IFPs, RFP, and RFQ requirements and schedules and the ability to build labor calculations. - Ability to research and produce security related product submittals. - Ability to learn and become proficient with ESS related programming matrixes. - Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients. - SE may have client interaction and contribute to the P and L performance. - Project lifecycle is important and learning the standards our clients are comfortable with is just as important as selling new technology and solutions where they fit. The position bears the responsibility to develop long-lasting client partnerships & work with team members to maintain the account at all levels. - Maintains expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars and educational forums. May author articles and/or analyze trends. - Attend appropriate manufacture training(s), attend or lead lunch and learn and continue online education. - Represent ESS Engineering in enterprise-wide initiatives and strategic discussions related to delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction. Required Qualifications: - Associates Degree or equivalent professional experience - 5+ years' experience in system design - Detailed oriented, independent, self-starter - Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines - Excellent communication skills - Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages - High level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills Preferred Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience in technical systems designing - High school diploma or GED required - Associate or Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent experience. - Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM and MS Office 365 - Certifications or training with Milestone and Lenel preferred - Certifications or training with in Genetec, Avigilon and S2 preferred - Ability to get a government issued Top Secret Clearance (US-based only) - A clear understanding of project phases Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning. - A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, installation and integration as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications. • Assist the Global Sales Team with their technical inquiries and tasks by monitoring and maintaining an inbound question queue • Assist with technical trials across Samsara’s Sales Engineering team as necessary • Create software scripting solutions and integrations where appropriate • Be available for internal Q&A from Samsara account teams • Produce and manage digital content to assist with product learning, product adoption, hardware installation, and software configuration • Update and manage internal hardware and software lab infrastructure • Coordinate and participate in new product testing activities • Gather and highlight industry-specific customer use cases for Samsara solutions • Coordinate cross functional communication to ensure prospect success
