Demand Planning Manager
Avantor
The Opportunity: Avantor is looking for a Demand Planning Manager to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external (e.g., finance, sales & marketing, product management, etc.) supply chain planning partners. This position is charged with making decisions that impact the demand plan and communicating those decisions to stakeholders, as well as identifying and resolving demand variances. The Demand Manager also participates in the financial forecasting process, as well as contributes to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives. This is a full-time Remote/Virtual position. Must be able to travel (as needed) to other Avantor sites, including manufacturing facilities and customer sites. What we’re looking for: - Education: - College degree in Supply Chain, Business or STEM related discipline. - Experience: - 5-7 years of demand planning experience. - Knowledge of forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance and manufacturing. - Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once. - Certifications: APICS Certification a plus. - Additional Qualifications: - Encompass analytical, communication and leadership skills. - Ability to quickly identify deviations from expected results and other disruptions and promptly resolve any issues. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, including great presentations. - Strong mathematical/statistical abilities. - Intermediate proficiency using technology tools that enable demand planning and reporting. - Knowledgeable ability to use technology tools that facilitate collaboration with external stakeholders. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into high-level analysis and demand planning. - Exceptional ability to organize time and resources effectively to determine priorities. - Desire to work in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment. - Worked in a team-based environment. How you will thrive and create an impact: Influencer/Collaborator: - Work with business unit leadership to generate demand planning insights and alert supply planning of changes. - Assist in development of annual plans and reconcile them with monetized demand plans. Communicate any gaps between the plans. - Influence and collaborate with key partners in marketing, sales (field sales, corporate sales managers and directors) and finance, and address input gaps as identified by forecast error, bias and volatility review and other means. Systems Capability: - Have experience and be proficient in utilizing current demand-planning systems to create the best statistical forecast possible and is knowledgeable on various demand planning system features. Tracker of Information/Converter of Information: - Ensure that the demand forecast is shared/received in the format, level of detail and timing required by all customers and supply chain partners, with documented assumptions, to achieve the various business objectives. Capture and analyze demand signals and translate them into forecast inputs coordinating with the other demand planning roles. - Evaluate buying patterns of key customers and predict how the company should react to product phase in, phase out, warranty, availability, demand shifts, promotions events and competitive products. - Assess the impact of promotions and events on demand, using what-if analysis to create scenarios and recommendations. - Define and drive an out-of-cycle demand variance realignment process if required. Innovator/Decision Maker: - Work with various cross-functional teams on projects such as new product launches, line extensions, product discontinuations promotions and events. Demonstrate sound business decision making aligned with company goals. KPI Management: - Identify S&OP KPIs impacted by demand-planning activities and outputs. - Determine methods to address and correct any demand-planning group behaviors that adversely affect S&OP KPIs. Collaboration: - Work within high-performing teams and be highly collaborative. - Build excellent relationships with key internal and external customers based on trust and confidence. - Teach/educate/coach/mentor stakeholders toward desired business outcomes. Analytical Thinking: - Evaluate scenarios with end-to-end supply chain impact in mind. - Refine and train algorithms to aid in analysis and scenario planning. Information Seeking/Data Gathering: - Translate business goals and metrics into business process outcomes and related business cases for specific projects. - Be knowledgeable of finance, sales, marketing and R&D functions. - Focus on both short-term results and long-term goals. Overview Responsible for supporting aviation startup, transition, and special project initiatives across the organization, with a primary focus on Greenfield base openings, operational readiness, pilot coordination, safety, and training support.
