Accountant II Location: United States, Iowa Salary: $52,790.40 - $80,204.80 Annually Job Description: The Iowa Department of Revenue's Financial Services Division is seeking an Accountant 2 to join our Alcohol Accounting/Finance team. The Financial Services Division ensures the accurate accounting of state revenue collection and departmental expenses, while collaborating with leadership to manage the Department's alcohol and tax-related processes and procedures. Additionally, this team of the division: - Provides centralized accounting services for Alcohol Operations - Helps coordinate wholesale alcoholic liquor distribution to more than 2,000 privately-owned retailers across Iowa - Manages Class E Alcohol License Accounts and Liquor Sales Order processing - Conducts daily reconciliation of Liquor Inventory and Liquor Sales revenues - Facilitates Beer and Wine Tax reporting and collections - Effectively collaborates with the Alcohol Operations and Licensing Team along with our Private Warehousing and Distribution partner Ruan In this position you will be responsible for: - Key resource for the operational systems including IADV, Microsoft Dynamics 365, IDR IMPACT, as well as fleet and warehouse integrations - Operate as the subject matter expert for New LE setups for Class E licensees - Oversee reconciliation of inventory between the ABO and Ruan inventory management systems to ensure accuracy and resolve any issues on a daily basis - Responsible for management of revenue and expenditure sources related to D365 - Manage and Process the twice monthly bailment process - Provide support and maintain cross training for financial transactions Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following: - Experience with D365 Warehouse Management System (or equivalent) - processing and analyzing Vendor Payments, Customer Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, and staging tables - Experience with I3 and/or Iowa Advantage State Financial System, GenTax (IMPACT) systems, Workday, and Microsoft Excel - Experience working in Governmental Accounting, Licensing and Taxation - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field Job Specific Competencies: - Knowledge of professional accounting principles, theories, concepts and terms. - Ability to classify accounting transactions, maintain and reconcile accounts, close accounts and prepare reports and statements - Knowledge of the programs of the department for which accounting services are provided - Displays a high level of initiative, effort, attention to detail and commitment by completing assignments efficiently with minimal supervision - Works and communicates with all internal and external clients and customers providing polite, quality professional service Employer Highlights: The Iowa Department of Revenue is a well-respected employer. Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a minimum of twelve semester hours (or its equivalent) in accounting, business administration or finance; course work and eighteen months of responsible experience in accounting, accounts examination or verification, budgeting or closely related fiscal experience with a governmental agency, public accounting firm, or private industry; OR substitution of work experience in the public or private sector which entailed accounting, auditing, budgeting, assessment or computation of taxes, or closely related financial functions (e.g., treasurer, comptroller, accountant, auditor, budget analyst, etc.) on a year-for-year basis for the required education (thirty semester or equivalent hours equal one year); OR substitution of successful completion of a post-high school vocational/technical, business college, or area community college curriculum in accounting which included concentrated course work equivalent to twenty semester hours (or more) in accounting for the required education; OR any combination of qualifying post high school level education and experience which totals five and one-half years; OR employees with current continuous experience in the state service that includes the equivalent of six months of full-time experience as an Accounting Technician 2 shall be considered as qualifying; OR substituting graduate level course work in accounting, business administration, or finance for each year of the required experience on the basis that satisfactory completion of 30 semester or equivalent hours of graduate level course work is equivalent to one year of experience; OR employees with current continuous experience in the state service that includes the equivalent of eighteen months of full-time experience as an Accounting Technician 1 shall be considered as qualifying; OR Certified Public Accountants may qualify with six months of the required experience; OR employees with current continuous experience in the state classified service that includes the equivalent of twelve months of full-time experience as an Accountant/Auditor 1, six months of full-time experience as an Accounting Technician 3, or twenty-four months of full-time experience as an Accounting Technician 2 shall be considered as qualifying.
