Overview General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) is seeking talented engineers to design, construct, and maintain the world’s most capable submarines on behalf of the United States Navy. The Platform Systems Engineering department plays an important role in the development of a submarine by driving cross-discipline technical integration and optimization throughout the entire platform. The Platform Sytems Engineering and Integation department is looking for a Systems Engineer who will focus on understanding the operation of complex systems, identifying and preventing system failures, addressing operator needs, and ensuring that the overall system meets U.S. Navy requirements. Currently, the Platform Systems Engineering department is supporting a wide array of Programs, each in different phases of development, including but not limited to, the VIRGINIA Class Program, the COLUMBIA Class Program, the Subsea and Seabed Warfare Program, and future Class Blocks of Submarines. The Platform Systems Engineering department also supports platform payload integration efforts, as well as integrating Special Operations Forces into the platform. Your responsibilities may include leading and supporting multiple engineering disciplines in resolving technical integration challenges, developing and managing technical requirements, supporting cross-functional interface development activities, testing of ship systems, and managing technical risk efforts. Platform Systems Engineering works closely with other internal engineering disciplines, with various Navy organizations, and with industry partners to ensure successful integration of complex systems within the submarine. Assignments and responsibilities will be based on the selected applicants’ experience levels, skill sets, and ambitions, as well as on the evolving needs of each project. Some assignments may provide occasional travel opportunities to the customer’s or industry partner’s locations. GDEB offers the ability for some work to be performed remotely/at home. Qualifications Required: - A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Fluids, Structural, Systems Engineering, Marine or Ocean Engineering - 2-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience - Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense Preferred: - Experience (education or work) with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices and tools. - Prior experience in submarine design, serving onboard submarines, or in related environments is preferred. - Experience working in a systems engineering environment is also desired. Skills - Strong writing and communication skills are desired. - A willingness to work as part of a team and independently in a fast paced, evolving, and technically challenging environment is necessary.

• Support the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of Workday weekly, monthly, quarterly, and R1/R2 release updates • Monitor Workday Community and other forums for solutions to current issues and opportunities to optimize configuration • Focus on system optimization and maintenance needs through continuous awareness of internal process changes, Workday functionality roadmaps, and updates as well as market trends • Work closely with HR Systems Manager and HR COE leads in the gathering and writing of functional requirements, configure, develop test plans and scripts, conduct component, integration, and user acceptance tests • Look for opportunities to leverage AI through Workday and Workday Agents • Work on cross functional projects focused on continuous improvement, automation, harmonization, and standardization • Assist with portfolio and project management across the HR Systems team • Serve as a subject matter expert of HR systems design supporting Functional Owners in deployment of major projects, annual business cycles along with the ability to solve complex business problems • Recommend and implement new solutions, processes, policies, and standards in support of HR strategy and operations, and AI adoption

• Administer Windows Server and (where applicable) Linux server environments, including build, configuration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting. • Provision, monitor, and manage Azure infrastructure and services used to host server workloads, with emphasis on operational stability, availability, and cost-consciousness. • Support Azure PaaS components that underpin server workloads (e.g., managed databases and platform services) as applicable to the environment. • Operate and support hybrid connectivity and dependencies (e.g., identity, DNS, networking, and legacy/on-prem virtualization). • Maintain working knowledge of on-prem virtualization (VMware and/or Hyper-V) for a smaller portion of the environment. • Serve as an escalation point for complex server and infrastructure incidents; perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective/preventive actions. • Identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities for Windows/Linux servers and associated infrastructure in collaboration with Security and site teams. • Document risk, remediation approach, and dates/ownership for remediation when actions depend on external entities. • Maintain and improve monitoring, backup/restore processes, and performance tuning; validate recoverability through periodic restore testing. • Automate routine tasks and operational workflows using PowerShell and command-line tooling; contribute to runbooks and operational documentation. • Follow ITIL-aligned incident, problem, change, and request processes; keep tickets, documentation, and diagrams current. • Coordinate with internal infrastructure teams (network, security, application, end-user services) and vendors to deliver deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting. • Support and/or run smaller projects and lifecycle initiatives such as site changes, cloud provisioning, new application deployments or upgrades, and standardization of server builds/configurations.
