PhD-Level Bioinformatics Experts

Weekday (YC W21)

This role is for one of our clients Compensation: $60-$85 per hour We are seeking highly skilled Bioinformatics Experts to contribute to a high-priority evaluation project with a leading AI research organization. In this role, you will independently solve complex bioinformatics data analysis problems, working with large-scale biological datasets and submitting fully documented analytical workflows. This is a problem-solving focused role, where you will work under a blind protocol—approaching each task independently without prior context. Your work will directly contribute to evaluating advanced AI systems on real-world scientific reasoning tasks.

Job Requirements

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Solve complex bioinformatics challenges across domains such as genomics, transcriptomics, and virology.
  • Analyze large-scale biological datasets and derive meaningful insights.
  • Develop and submit well-structured, reproducible Jupyter notebooks documenting your full analytical workflow.
  • Apply strong independent reasoning to ambiguous and open-ended analytical problems.
  • Ideal Qualifications
  • PhD or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas:
  • RNA-seq analysis
  • Variant calling
  • Metagenomic classification
  • Epigenomics (ChIP-seq, methylation analysis)
  • Single-cell analysis
  • Population genetics
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R for building bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Experience creating reproducible and well-documented Jupyter notebooks.
  • Familiarity with command-line bioinformatics tools (e.g., samtools).
  • Strong independent problem-solving skills with the ability to work without direct guidance.
  • Engagement Details
  • Duration: 4-week contract, starting in March.
  • Tasks assigned on a rolling basis.
  • Fully remote role with flexible working hours.
