We live our values every day, demonstrating we CARE through our values, Sustainability initiatives and inclusive corporate culture. Our Technology and Life Sciences team is currently seeking a Zonal Distribution Director to join our new business team in New England or the Pacific Northwest. This is a full-time, exempt role. This role is eligible for a fully remote arrangement. Position Overview/Summary: Reporting directly to the President of Technology and Life Sciences, this pivotal Sales and Distribution leadership role will shape and execute the annual sales strategy for the assigned region. This role will champion marketing initiatives, programs, and processes to accelerate profitable growth and strengthen brand presence within the assigned zone. Additionally, the leader will cultivate business opportunities and strategic partnerships across key segments, field teams, and agency networks. A critical component of success will be partnering with managers to coach and develop Technology and Life Sciences Underwriters, enabling them to effectively source, underwrite, and close Technology business opportunities. The role balances strategic distribution leadership, pipeline acceleration, portfolio insights, and external market presence. This is a high impact, field-facing role requiring strong executive presence, industry expertise, and the ability to influence without direct authority. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Strategic Distribution Leadership - Develop and execute a regional distribution strategy aligned to Technology & Life Sciences growth goals. - Create and maintain territorial business plans in collaboration with regional field leaders and Technology and Life Sciences underwriting leaders to ensure alignment with overall strategic objectives. - Oversee production goals for target and non-target agents; assist in negotiating commitments to achieve financial objectives. - Identify and prioritize high-value broker partnerships, emerging markets, and geographic expansion opportunities. Leadership & Team Development - Provide leadership and direction to underwriters on executing territorial plans; monitor results and take corrective action in partnership with underwriting leaders as needed. - Design and deliver coaching and sales training strategies for Middle Market and Technology Underwriters. Business Development & Growth - Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing distributors and expand distribution through Technology-focused agents. - Build, manage, and convert a robust pipeline of Middle Market and Small Commercial opportunities across the region. - Build and maintain productive relationships with target agents in each territory to maximize yield and profitability. - Lead regional marketing, broker education, and promotional activity for the Technology & Life Sciences segment. - Partner with Product and Marketing on campaigns, messaging, and new offerings. Advocacy Model Execution - Operate as the primary advocate for Technology & Life Sciences opportunities—removing obstacles, improving speed to market, and supporting differentiated deal positioning. - Facilitate clear, consistent communication and alignment between the Technology & Life Sciences team and partners across Distribution, Core Underwriting, Product, and Regional Leadership to ensure shared understanding of appetite, messaging, and go-to-market plans. - Escalate portfolio insights, competitive intelligence, and agency feedback to leadership. Performance Management & Market Intelligence - Utilize Salesforce to maintain visibility in territorial plans and pipeline processes. - Analyze management reports, monitor performance, and take action to maintain momentum and profitability. - Gather competitive intelligence and provide feedback to inform product and pricing strategies. - Organize sales meetings, contests, and incentive programs to stimulate growth. Required Skills & Competencies: - Deep understanding of Technology & Life Sciences insurance market dynamics. - Strong distribution, sales, or underwriting background with demonstrated success in growth environments. - Exceptional relationship building, influencing, and executive level communication skills. - Ability to lead cross functional teams through persuasion, collaboration, and solutions mindset. - Strong analytical thinking, portfolio awareness, and strategic planning capability. - Demonstrated ability to present to senior agency leaders, industry panels, and internal leadership teams. Experience & Qualifications: - 7–10+ years of commercial insurance experience (Technology, Life Sciences, or Specialty lines strongly preferred). - Distribution, Business Development, or Underwriting leadership experience required. - Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or industry designations (CPCU, ARM, RPLU) preferred. - Willingness to travel regionally (30–50%).
