Job Title: Principal, Communications Job Code: 35863 Job Location: Remote Job Schedule: 9/80 Job Description: Under limited general direction, the Communications Principal will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to support the Missile Solutions segment, and for leading staff. This role involves both internal and external communications, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment across all platforms and stakeholders. Essential Functions: - Determines approach to projects, demonstrating an understanding and application of communications principles, concepts and practices to meet the objectives of assignments - Create internal and external communications products, writing, editing, and distributing content including press releases, talking points for executives, executive memos, intranet/internet content, video scripts, advertising copy, social media posts, tradeshow materials and presentations - Develop and lead the implementation of communications strategies for the organization, including key messaging, communication channels, and tactics - Develop and maintain strong media relationships with key outlets, regularly pitch news stories to reporters, respond to press queries on deadline, and prepare company subject matter experts for media engagements - Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure that segment communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with the company’s goals and values - Advise and counsel senior leaders on best communication practices and applicable techniques to effectively communicate to targeted audiences. - Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communications, and make recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis - Draft plans and manage crisis communications - Manage special projects, VIP visits and other communications efforts as required - Interact with the operating divisions, COE’s and site leadership to develop, coordinate and approve communications materials Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience. Preferred Additional Skills: - Experience with digital communications tools - Experience in writing for executives, storytelling, and drafting news releases - Experience developing PowerPoint briefings - Experience analyzing and reporting metrics - Ability to develop and implement communications strategies - Knowledge of AP Style - Experience in working with journalists, providing media training to principals - Experience in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook - Demonstrated ability to work well with others and communicate effectively - Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously - Interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, both within the Communications Department and throughout the company - Skilled in effective scheduling and prioritizing work flow - Must be flexible enough to fill in where required on demand - Some travel may be required In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $126,000 - $234,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $109,500 - $203,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
