Automation Systems Group The Automation Systems Group is responsible for the design, construction and support of cutting-edge data center automation and control infrastructure. The department collaborates with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Information Technology and Management to ensure the system continues to fulfill Vantage customer requirements. Automation Systems works closely with partner contractors to come up with the best design and helps manage these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines. In addition to design and construction, we are also responsible for the technical requirements of the Operations department involving troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing mission critical control systems throughout all Vantage locations. Position Overview This role can be based remotely anywhere in the US. The Automation Systems Governance Engineer, is responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and enforcing standards, policies, and best practices that ensure consistency, security, and quality across all automation systems within Vantage Data Centers. This role bridges technical excellence and operational discipline by ensuring all automation and control systems align with corporate standards, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity requirements, and business objectives. This position works cross-functionally with Automation Engineering, Delivery, Operations, IT/OT Security, and Reliability teams to define governance frameworks that support scalable, secure, and high-performance automation solutions across Vantage’s global data center portfolio. Essential Job Functions · Audit and track PLC/SCADA coding standards, tag-path conventions, and system documentation practices. · Update, track, and audit documents of the Automation Systems teams via workflow process. · Partner with Engineering and Delivery teams to ensure new projects align with approved automation standards and governance checkpoints. · Help track non‑compliance findings and follow up on corrective actions. · Verify that automation designs follow internal standards (naming conventions, safety requirements, electrical design rules, etc) · Coordinate with IT and OT Security teams to ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, ISA/IEC 62443). · Maintain an automation risk register, tracking technical debt, obsolescence, and non-conformance findings. · Assist senior engineers in revising standards based on new technologies or field learnings. Job Requirements · Knowledge of Ignition (by Inductive Automation) software platform is required. · 1 year of experience in Industrial Automation SCADA development required, 2 to 3 years of preferred. · Data Center experience is strongly preferred but not required. · Knowledge of automation systems (control loops, field IO, etc.) in a mission critical environment · Knowledge of industrial PLC systems manufactured by Rockwell Automation & Carel · Proficiency with MS Office, and MS SharePoint · Travel required is expected to be 25% but may increase over time as the business grows.
