Further information is available at www.bgis.com SUMMARY The RCC Operating Technologist is responsible for remotely operating Building Automation Systems (BAS) in BGIS-managed client facilities. You will implement day-to-day operator level control changes, review trend data to support trouble shooting efforts, implement changes for energy and operational optimization initiatives, and coordinate corrective actions for complex issues. ** Must be available to work rotational shifts during business hours, be on-call, and be available after hours and weekends to respond to emergencies KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Project Support - Works with building operators and site managers to identify operational and energy savings in BAS operations. - Develops recommendations for BAS system changes and implements approved changes which may include working with contractors and BAS vendors for the programming and remote portal development coordination. - Provide input to Project Teams and/or BAS Vendors on scope and remote portal requirements. - Performs commissioning inspections to transition projects from installation to an on-going operation. On-going Operations - Responds to demand service requests for BAS/Control related issues to diagnose and rectify. - Provides remote technical support to on-site technician team via phone support system. - Alarm monitoring and work order dispatch of Critical/High priority alerts. - Optimizes facility uptime and asset integrity of assigned facility. - Monitor system performance and fault events perform corrective and demand service maintenance on BAS to achieve facility uptime, uninterrupted client operations, occupants’ comfort asset integrity, and energy and operating cost objectives. - Coordinate maintenance repairs and implement temporary overrides to minimize impact while awaiting services. - Address frequent failures with site team and Vendor. Identify, record and escalate deficiencies and maintain related documentation. - Ensure remote platforms are up to date. - Receives, actions, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance and repair work within the work order management system including progress notes and resolution notes. - Upload up-to-date installation documents obtained from installation team and BAS vendors to the BAS after upgrades. - Performs work in accordance to established processes and practices. - Complies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental and health and safety. - Trains junior operator team members (as required) on daily operations processes and troubleshooting. - Must be able to work shifts, be on-call and be available to respond to emergencies. Client Relations - Provides observations about facility building automation equipment and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair. - Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction. Maintain positive relations through the manner with which work is performed and delivered. Administration - Records resolution data within service maintenance management database. Ensures work completed meets quality, contract response and all other requirements. - Receives, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance and repair work within service maintenance management database. - Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required. - Participates in and assists with facility-related projects. - Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS - College Diploma in a related discipline. - BAS or Building Operations courses (Asset). - Remote BAS operation for multiple facilities. (3 years) - Demonstrated proficiency with BAS navigation, data-trend setting and extractions, trouble shooting. (3 years) - Medium to advance skills in word processing and spreadsheet data manipulation and analysis tools. (5 years) - Familiar with integration concepts and platforms such as BACnet systems. (1 year) - Operational experience in fault detection platform. (Asset) - Good knowledge of optimization and energy management strategy for BAS. (3 years) - Strong ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
