• Lead mobile engineering efforts across iOS and Android using Expo • Define technical architecture and establish patterns that scale within the Expo ecosystem • Write and enforce specifications for features before implementation begins • Ship high-quality code yourself while elevating the engineers around you • Integrate AI-assisted development practices into the team’s workflow • Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver cohesive experiences • Own mobile release processes, performance, and reliability • Drive adoption of Expo’s latest capabilities (EAS, dev builds, config plugins)

• Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions across multiple teams and stack layers • Solve ambiguous, cross-cutting problems that span dashboards, mobile, AI, and backend services • Build and extend SvelteKit dashboards that power internal and external tooling • Contribute to our Expo mobile applications when needed • Design and implement AI-powered features using Mastra • Architect reliable workflows and background jobs with Inngest • Work across our Supabase backend, Postgres, and ClickHouse data layers • Define and champion spec-driven development practices organization-wide • Write code, review code, and mentor engineers at all levels • Evaluate and integrate AI tools that accelerate engineering velocity • Partner with leadership on technical roadmap and build-vs-buy decisions • Establish patterns, libraries, and frameworks that other engineers build on • Experience with SvelteKit in production • Background with Supabase (auth, realtime, edge functions) • Familiarity with Inngest or similar event-driven workflow systems • Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or real-time applications • Background mentoring or managing engineers • History of open-source contributions or public technical writing

• Build and ship features across frontend and backend systems • Move seamlessly between Next.js, SvelteKit, and Hono depending on what the problem requires • Work with Postgres as the primary data layer, designing schemas and optimizing queries • Write TypeScript across the stack - React/Svelte on the frontend, Hono/Node.js services on the backend • Contribute Python services where appropriate • Write technical specifications that define APIs, data models, and UI behavior before coding • Use AI-assisted development tools to increase velocity and code quality • Collaborate with product and design to translate requirements into working software • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning • Improve developer experience through tooling, documentation, and automation • *The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

• Help refine and improve our understanding of network path characteristics (including in-home WiFi behavior, bufferbloat mitigation on shared access links, and so forth) • Refine and import our heuristics for rate & latency estimation, rate adaptation, congestion control, and loss recovery for RTP-based media streams • Collaborate with colleagues to implement and deploy new ideas in our server-side transport stack • Work closely with server, client and data analytics colleagues to improve our lab-based and production (A/B) testing techniques for evaluating service performance
