Mobile Engineering Lead

SERHANT.

• Lead mobile engineering efforts across iOS and Android using Expo • Define technical architecture and establish patterns that scale within the Expo ecosystem • Write and enforce specifications for features before implementation begins • Ship high-quality code yourself while elevating the engineers around you • Integrate AI-assisted development practices into the team’s workflow • Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver cohesive experiences • Own mobile release processes, performance, and reliability • Drive adoption of Expo’s latest capabilities (EAS, dev builds, config plugins)

Job Requirements

  • 6+ years of mobile development experience with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
  • Deep expertise with Expo and React Native - you know when to use managed workflow vs. dev builds, how to optimize bundle size, and how to debug native issues
  • Strong TypeScript proficiency
  • Experience integrating mobile apps with Postgres-backed APIs
  • Track record of shipping consumer-facing mobile applications at scale
  • Daily use of AI coding tools to accelerate development and code review
  • Familiarity with frontier LLMs and practical experience integrating them into your work
  • Strong opinions on spec-driven development - you believe clarity upfront prevents chaos later
  • Experience building mobile apps with real-time features
  • Background in CI/CD for mobile, feature flagging, and phased rollouts (EAS Update, EAS Build)
  • Eye for design and user experience
  • Native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) experience for edge cases requiring native modules.
