Job Description

Offensive Security Practice Manager

Praetorian

We Are Praetorian Praetorian is defined by raw intensity, fearless candor, and a relentless drive. This is who we are. We are looking for high-performing, mission-aligned individuals. We prioritize performance over politics and purpose over transaction. This environment is built for those who seek ownership and impact. Is Praetorian the right fit for you? If you are someone who obsesses over the problem, defaults to open communication, and wants to work with a team that refuses to accept mediocrity—then you have found your home. The Mission Praetorian is an expert-driven offensive security company. Our mission is to prevent breaches before they occur. We help organizations shift from an "assume breach" mentality to adopting offensive security as a core strategy of prevention. We don’t just find bugs; we solve the root cause. We are building a future without compromise, and we need people who run toward the fire. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for an Offensive Security Practice Manager who leads from the front. You're not managing from a distance. You're in the work — raising the bar on delivery, developing the engineers around you, and holding the line on quality when it matters most. You believe great management is what turns talented individuals into a world-class team. How You Operate You bring mission-driven intensity to every client engagement and every career conversation with your direct reports. You run toward hard problems rather than around them. You prioritize customer outcomes over internal process and choose accountability over deflection when things go wrong. We look for managers with a bias for action — people who own the fix, share the credit, and care more about getting to the right answer than being right. You embrace AI not as a trend but as a force multiplier — actively identifying where automation can make your team faster, sharper, and more effective. What You Will Own - Lead the Team: Manage, develop, and retain a team of up to 10 offensive security engineers — setting clear expectations, removing blockers, and building the culture that keeps top 1% talent engaged and growing. - Own Delivery Quality: Maintain a maniacal focus on client satisfaction throughout every engagement, ensuring technical precision and a consistently high standard of execution across red team, application security, and cloud security. - Drive Performance: Run the team against clearly defined objectives and key results — owning utilization, gross margin, NPS, and career development outcomes quarter over quarter. - Close the Loop: Partner with product and engineering leadership to systematically feed real-world offensive findings into the Guard platform, turning field expertise into platform capability. - Raise the Bar: Identify opportunities to improve engagement methodologies, standardize delivery, and scale throughput without sacrificing depth or quality of findings. - Champion AI Adoption: Actively identify and implement AI tools and automation within your team's workflows — reducing manual overhead and increasing delivery capacity without increasing headcount. - Support Growth: Assist sales in managing existing client relationships and winning new logos, showing up as a credible technical leader in front of CISOs and security leadership. What You Bring - The Foundation: 5+ years of industry experience with a strong understanding of the cybersecurity space, paired with 3+ years managing technical teams in a consulting or managed services environment. - Domain Expertise: Hands-on background in offensive security — application security, cloud security, red teaming, or penetration testing — with enough depth to credibly lead a team doing that work. - Customer Fluency: Prior experience in an outward-facing role, with comfort presenting to and building relationships with executive-level stakeholders including CISOs and VPs. - Operational Chops: Proven ability to manage people and projects simultaneously, translate business objectives into tactical execution, and operate with clarity in ambiguous environments. - The "Plus One" Edge: Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, CTEM frameworks, software maturity models (OpenSAMM, BSIMM, SDL), agile development practices, and modern cloud security architectures. A Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Business rounds out the profile. If This Position Is Wildly Successful, In One Year You Will Have: - Elevated the quality and consistency of offensive security engagements across red team, application security, and cloud security, setting the standard for technical rigor and client impact - Built, mentored, and retained a world-class team of offensive security engineers, establishing clear growth paths that attract top 1% talent and reduce attrition - Developed scalable engagement methodologies and playbooks that increased team throughput without sacrificing depth or quality of findings - Identified and integrated AI tools and automation into team workflows in ways that meaningfully reduced manual overhead and increased delivery capacity - Strengthened client relationships at the CISO and VP level, becoming a trusted advisor who drives repeat business and expansion through the quality of your team's work - Partnered with product and engineering leadership to feed real-world offensive findings into the Guard platform, closing the loop between services and product - Established operational metrics and reporting that give leadership clear visibility into team utilization, engagement quality, and revenue contribution Why Praetorian? We offer a culture built on high performance and deep ownership. - Elite Talent: Work alongside the top 1% of the industry—composed exclusively of high performers who raise the bar. - Our DNA: We are defined by action, grit, and uncompromising transparency. We move fast, take on hard problems, and choose clarity over comfort—because that’s how meaningful work gets done. - Impact: Your work directly protects the world's most critical organizations. THE OPPORTUNITY This is a role for a strategic thinker who loves to do. You’ll join one of our portfolio teams and drive the brand marketing for several games within the portfolio; building the strategic brand foundations each title needs to succeed and developing the go-to-market campaigns that drive awareness, demand and ultimately commercial performance. You’ll work at the intersection of strategy and execution - setting brand direction, developing campaign plans, and collaborating with subject matter experts across Team17’s cross functional marketing team to bring everything to life. Your portfolio team consists of Community Management and Production who are your day-to-day partners, ensuring we’re building the best games for the right players and that our marketing is as strong as the products it supports. This role requires someone who can hold their own in multiple rooms at once. You’ll liaise with teams across Team17 as well as with the external developers we publish, which means your ability to build relationships, communicate clearly, influence stakeholders and balance competing priorities will be every bit as important as your marketing expertise. We’re looking for candidates with a genuine brand marketing background and strong understanding of the craft - marketers who understand and can demonstrate the value a strong brand brings to video game development and marketing.   WHAT YOU’LL DO Brand Strategy & Foundations •     Develop deep knowledge of your target player audiences through research and insights, using this to champion the player throughout development and marketing. •     Build and manage the brand strategy for each of your products, including brand positioning, the brand framework, tone of voice and brand visual identity, providing the strategic foundation for all downstream marketing activity. •     Identify and articulate a compelling product truth, USPs and product positioning, ensuring each title is set apart from competitors and clearly understood by both internal teams and players. •     Use brand, player and market insights to help developers tune their game for the greatest impact. •     Act as the internal champion for your brands, keeping the wider business and partners informed and excited about your products. Go-to-Market Planning & Execution •     Develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies for your products, covering the full arc from pre-launch awareness through to launch and live operations. •     Build integrated campaign plans in close collaboration with subject matter experts in the cross functional marketing team, including social media, influencer, PR, community, lifecycle and paid media specialists ensuring a joined-up approach to every release. •     Lead campaign kick-off meetings, briefing the wider marketing team on upcoming launches and aligning all stakeholders on objectives, messaging and timing. •     Drive marketing asset briefing, creation and approval, working with internal creative teams and external agencies to ensure the highest quality output. •     Manage marketing budgets for your titles - building plans, tracking spends and ensuring resources are deployed effectively to maximise impact and return. •     Monitor and report on campaign performance against agreed KPIs, using data and insights to optimise activity in-flight and sharpen future strategies. Stakeholder & Partner Management •     Partner closely with Community Managers to ensure player communities are engaged, informed and properly represented in strategic decisions from the earliest stages. •     Work alongside Producers and development teams to deeply understand each product’s features, development milestones and unique qualities - becoming the marketing voice within those relationships. •     Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with external game developers, representing Team17’s publishing values and ensuring developers feel like genuine partners in their game’s success. •     Liaise effectively with teams across the Team17 business - including sales, marketing, release management etc - ensuring marketing activity is aligned and supported across the organisation. •     Manage upwards and sideways with confidence, communicating progress, surfacing risks early and influencing decisions through well-reasoned, data-supported arguments. Insights & Continuous Improvement •     Lead or commission market intelligence and player insight initiatives that inform brand, product and campaign decisions. •     Conduct ongoing competitive analysis, monitoring market trends and rival titles to identify opportunities and threats. •     Drive post-campaign retrospectives, capturing honest learnings and feeding them back into future planning to continuously raise the bar.   WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Experience & Background •     An experienced brand marketing background - you understand brand strategy, can build brand frameworks from scratch and know how to translate brand thinking into effective execution. •     Demonstrable experience developing and executing go-to-market campaigns across multiple marketing disciplines and channels, from early planning through to post-launch analysis. •     Experience in the games industry, whether from a publisher, developer or specialist agency. A deep personal passion for games and genuine knowledge of the gaming landscape are non-negotiable. •     A track record of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, delivering high-quality work under pressure and to deadlines. Skills & Capabilities •     Strategic thinking with creative instincts - you can move between big-picture brand vision and the granular detail of campaign execution without losing quality at either end. •     Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. You can distil complex ideas into clear, compelling messages and tailor your style for very different audiences, from developers to data teams to exec stakeholders. •     Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. You’re comfortable navigating complex, multi-party relationships and can achieve alignment and buy-in without resorting to hierarchy. •     Analytical mindset - comfortable with performance data, able to interpret results meaningfully and use insights to make smarter decisions. •     A collaborative, team-first approach. You understand that great marketing is a team sport and you bring energy, ideas and reliability to every shared goal. Bonus Points •     Experience working directly with external development studios or managing publisher-developer relationships. •     Familiarity with player research methodologies and insight tools. •     Experience managing creative agency and production relationships.

Who is Rainforest? Rainforest is an early stage payments-as-a-service startup that has developed a solution that makes monetizing payments for vertically focused software platforms fair and simple. We focus on small-to-mid sized platforms that want to add value to their small business customers through embedded payments — and want to do so without adding operational or regulatory burdens or costs. Led by a successful repeat fintech founder with deep knowledge of the industry, and with venture backing from a Top 10 VC firm, Rainforest is well positioned to make an impact in the payments-as-a-service space, and we're looking for new team members who want to be a part of this journey! Who are we looking for? We're hiring our first full-time designer on the marketing team. Today, this role is mostly IC. You'll be in the weeds, executing across a wide range of work, and building the foundation of what Rainforest's brand becomes. Over time, the expectation is that you grow into managing a small creative function: hiring contractors, building processes, and leading brand strategy. This is a rare setup for a designer: real ownership from day one and a clear path to leadership at a rapidly growing company. You'll work directly with Marketing leadership, no creative director above you. You’ll be the true owner of the visual identity for Rainforest. The expectation is that you grow with the role. As Rainforest continues to grow, you will build and own the creative function within Marketing around you. That means knowing when to execute yourself and when to bring in outside help — freelancers, agencies, contractors — and managing that work so the output still looks like us. You'll brief external partners clearly, manage timelines and budgets, and hold the quality bar whether you made it or someone else did. What are some of the high-impact opportunities you’ll tackle? - Brand System — maintaining, evolving, and ensuring consistency of our branding as we grow - Content & Social — designing graphics for blog posts, social media channels, email and product launches - Sales Collateral — building decks, one-pagers, and ABM campaign assets - Product Mockups — creating graphics and animations that showcase Rainforest’s unique value - Video & Motion — managing podcast editing, short-form content, event recaps, product explainers, and client testimonials - Event Design — owning the full visual identity for our flagship event, Vertex, and its community, along with any other event needs from a design standpoint - Website — taking charge of website design updates, landing pages, and other campaign assets - Collaboration - internally/externally - working cross functionally to elevate the Rainforest brand, as well as knowing when to execute yourself and when to bring in outside help You are the visual standard-bearer for Rainforest. Everything external reflects your taste and judgment. If it has a Rainforest logo on it, it goes through you. This opportunity is for you if you have / are: A great designer first. Someone with a strong point of view, clean craft across mediums, and the range to go from a conference keynote backdrop to a LinkedIn carousel without dropping the ball on either. Beyond the craft: - Worked in B2B SaaS or fintech. You know how to visualize complex concepts in a way that is clear and interesting - Comfortable owning a brand system, not just executing within one - Ability to work independently, move fast, and make judgment calls without needing sign-off on every pixel - Someone who knows how to manage external creative partners (freelancers, agencies, contractors, etc.) and get great work out of them - Always thinking about where the brand should go, not just what's in the brief today - Fluency in motion and video. Do not need to be a video expert yourself, but need to be able to work with freelancers to get great work done in this medium - Obsessed with producing high quality designs - Excited about building something, not maintaining something The person who succeeds here is someone who's energized by both execution and strategy. Great at making things. Equally great at thinking about how they evolve. We offer a comprehensive health benefits package, unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, a fun and flexible working environment, and continuously invest in our people and our culture. If you require any accommodations throughout the pre-employment process, please contact our HR team at hr@rainforestpay.com
