• Support large‑scale data center projects and utility interconnections. • Build and validate PSCAD models that demonstrate reliable grid performance and meet utility requirements. • Work closely with internal teams, utilities, and equipment manufacturers to evaluate system behavior during faults, voltage and frequency disturbances, and weak‑grid conditions. • Support model reviews through commissioning. • Contribute to complex, high‑impact projects while delivering practical solutions that support grid reliability and client needs.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in power system studies with hands‑on PSCAD EMT modeling.
- Understanding of power‑electronics‑based loads (UPS, VFDs, converters) and grid interconnection requirements.
- Experience supporting utility or ISO reviews preferred.
- Strong technical writing and collaboration skills
- Must be a licensed Engineer

Role Description As a senior-level Utility Modeling and Interconnection Studies Engineer in the Utility Studies and Services group, you will be responsible for projects that involve power systems modelling, analysis, interconnections and other related engineering services for utility and other electrical infrastructure clients. Essential Responsibilities - Develop PSCAD, PSSe and PSLF models for both generation and load projects in accordance with various interconnection processes and requirements. - Perform bulk power system studies and assessments using power system software such as PSSe, PSLF, and PSCAD. - Develop large load models and interconnection strategies for modeling and meeting complex grid connection technical requirements. - Perform various compliance technical assessments on facility rating, protection coordination, and various performance assessments (design and post-construction). - Support regulatory compliance services for related project design phases from conceptual design through project testing and commission. - Support automation efforts to improve efficiency in performing EMT modeling, model quality testing and benchmarking. - Enhance relevant deliverable review and QA/QC processes to ensure project quality and schedules are maintained effectively. - Support the development of documents and reports associated with projects including proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and technical deliverables. - Assist with Client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings. - Support utility design studies on an as needed basis, including but not limited to, short circuit analysis, reactive power/load flow, protection coordination, arc flash, harmonic (pre & post), ampacity, grounding, as well as other related studies and calculations. - Maintain a strong understanding and application of applicable Codes and Standards. - Maintain strong and responsive Company-Client relationships. - Maintain high ethical and professional standards. - Support and mentor junior team members in addressing complex technical modelling and interconnection issues. - Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work. - Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines. - Other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
