• Administer, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux/Unix environments across development, test, and production systems. • Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability; proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime. • Manage and maintain network infrastructure components, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related services. • Perform system patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation in accordance with security policies and timelines. • Support virtualization platforms including provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning of virtual machines. • Manage and support cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), including deployments and system integration. • Implement and enforce security controls to ensure compliance with government regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA). • Troubleshoot complex system, network, and application issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. • Maintain system backups, disaster recovery processes, and continuity of operations procedures. • Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to support system integrations and resolve cross-functional issues. • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), system configurations, and technical documentation. • Support database environments from a system administration perspective, including performance and connectivity. • Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting and configuration management tools where applicable. • Support audits, security assessments, and compliance reporting activities. • Provide on-call support and participate in incident response as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field of study
- 5+ years of experience in system administration
- Proven experience in system administration within a government or highly regulated environment
- Proficiency with Windows Server and Linux/Unix operating systems
- Knowledge of network protocols and infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Understanding of database management systems (SQL, NoSQL)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to document processes and procedures
- Experience in patching operating systems to remediate any vulnerabilities
- Understanding of government compliance requirements and security standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA)
