Senior Mechanical Calculations Engineer
Assystem
• Establish an analysis methodology according to component safety classification and the applicable regulatory framework (RCCM-Rx, Eurocodes, EN13001, EN13445, ASME, FEM ...); • Validate assumptions and results with development managers. Maintain a critical perspective regarding the assumptions made; • Build and set up finite element models (meshing, boundary conditions, contacts ...); • Perform mechanical calculations for various static and dynamic loadings (temperatures, pressures, seismic, climatic loads) using FEA or analytical calculations; • Through these calculations, support and validate design assumptions for equipment (rotating machinery, handling equipment, steel structures, pressure equipment, anchors ...); • Post-process and analyze the obtained results. If necessary, propose improvement/optimization options; • Prepare and write calculation notes/reports. You may also be required to: • Participate in drafting technical proposals and estimating the associated workload; • Take part in mechanical design activities, which may include supervising one or more designers/drafters; • Propose and analyze technical options, which may include collaborative work with external partners; • Ensure verification of models or studies during the execution phase in accordance with best practices and regulations; • Contribute to the development of the calculation office through the development of tools (VBA, Python, etc.); • Act as an advisor on the reading and interpretation of standards within a multi-disciplinary team; • Perform piping flexibility calculations or fluid calculations depending on your skills.
Job Requirements
- You hold an engineering degree (or equivalent), with a mechanical emphasis.
- You have at least 5 years of experience in the energy industry, shipbuilding, special-purpose machinery or, more generally, in large, complex mechanical systems. Experience in structural analysis is required; additional skills in vibration analysis, fluid calculations or piping flexibility calculations are a plus.
- Proficiency in at least one mainstream calculation software (Ansys, Abaqus, Robot, PipeStress ...) is mandatory; Ansys is preferred.
- You are rigorous, dynamic, versatile, autonomous and recognized for your ability to collaborate with experts and to be proactive. Strong technical curiosity is essential.
- Your interpersonal skills and analytical mindset will set you apart.
- You have a good level of English, both spoken and written, to work in an international context.
