Senior Mainframe Automation Engineer
ITTConnect
• Lead migration projects from CA OPS/MVS to IBM Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS and CA Automation Point to IBM SAIOM. • Configure and implement IBM Systems Automation solutions, including policy-based automation for z/OS environments. • Develop and maintain automation rules, REXX execs, and System Automation Policy Database (PDB) configurations. • Provide installation and configuration assistance for IBM automation products. • Collaborate with operations teams to optimize system startup, shutdown, and recovery processes. • Ensure high availability and efficiency of critical systems through proactive automation strategies. • Document processes, configurations, and migration steps; deliver clear communication to stakeholders. • Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues in production environments.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years in a mainframe operations environment in an operational, service, consultancy, or support role.
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with IBM Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS.
- Proficient in CA OPS/MVS – Advanced TSO and ISPF for system management.
- Strong skills in Job Control Language (JCL).
- Ability to write and maintain REXX scripts.
- Working knowledge of System Automation Policy Database (PDB) required.
- Proven track record in z/OS automation migration projects.
- Experience in implementing and using NetView for z/OS.
- Advanced REXX scripting skills.
- Knowledge of other IBM Z software, including system operation, configuration, and automation is nice to have.
- Familiarity with z/OS system startup and shutdown processes.
- Experience with SMP/E for software installation and maintenance.
- Understanding of competing automation products in the mainframe space.
