Senior Systems Administrator

9th Way Insignia

• Administer, monitor, and optimize VAEC environments supporting the Enrollment System (ES), EDB, IVM, and VistA REE. • Provision, configure, and maintain cloud-based and hybrid infrastructure (Windows, Linux, RHEL, VMware, Azure/AWS). • Implement and manage system security controls in compliance with FedRAMP, FISMA, IRS 1075, HIPAA, and VA directives. • Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and environment refreshes for development, test, and production. • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity using tools such as Splunk, Azure Monitor, and custom dashboards. • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, outages, and degradation across cloud and on-premises systems. • Manage user access, authentication, and privileged accounts (Active Directory, MFA, RBAC). • Perform regular backups, disaster recovery testing, and root cause analysis for system failures. • Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures. • Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to support modernization, migration, and integration efforts. • Ensure compliance with change management, patching, and vulnerability remediation processes. • Provide Tier 2/3 escalation and after-hours support for critical incidents.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related technical discipline.
  • 6 years of relevant system administration experience; 10 additional years may be substituted for education.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, VAEC), virtualization (VMware), and enterprise operating systems (Windows, Linux, RHEL).
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance requirements, and access management.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell).
  • Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools (Splunk, Azure Monitor).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and support after-hours escalation.

Role Description The Applications Administrator will focus on the support of hotel operational systems including OPERA, MICROS, Toast, Stay n Touch, ProfitSword, and Hotel Effectiveness. This role supports property teams through daily troubleshooting, project coordination, new property onboardings, and system rollouts. The Applications Administrator strengthens system stability and ensures that hotel teams can use these tools effectively to drive guest service, productivity, and financial performance. This is a remote position. - Serve as the first point of contact for issues related to OPERA, MICROS, Toast, Stay n Touch, ProfitSword, Hotel Effectiveness, and other hotel operational applications outside the scope of property level managed IT services. - Troubleshoot access problems, configuration issues, transaction errors, interface interruptions, and general application performance concerns.
