Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack – Fintech

• Iterate on features in an agile manner using Scala and React (no prior experience required) and technologies like GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, Pub/Sub among others. • Decide how to best build core systems in the context of our microservices architecture • Ship your first code in days, iterating on features in an agile manner • Collaborate with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback for growth • Execute on big opportunities, helping Hopper rise to the top of the travel industry
Job Requirements
- The ability to bring leading industry techniques and technologies to the table
- A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability
- Excelled in cross-functional teams, working fluidly with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, and other highly skilled specialists
- A passionate focus on quality, writing testable code that performs and scales
- The ability to work with minimal guidance, be proactive and to handle uncertainty, ambiguity and the challenge of quickly evolving goals
- Prior cloud experience
- Working with Scala and/or React and its libraries
- Prior airline/travel industry or eCommerce experience
- Experience in UX design, using tools like Figma

• Consults with supervisor, systems analysts, other programmers, and end users to gather information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems. • Participates in design and writing of program specifications based on consultations with supervisor, systems analysts, other programmers, and end users. • Converts designs and specifications into computer code. • Engages in the process of compiling code into programs and corrects errors detected in the compile process. • Participates in creating test transactions and running tests to find errors and confirm the program meets specifications. • Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revise programs. • Engages in writing and maintaining documentation of changes to computer code, programs, and specifications. • Designs and codes layouts for onscreen user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems. • Participates in user review and technical documentation written by others to confirm consistency with program operations. • Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs. • Revises programs for corrections, enhancements, or system environment changes. • Trains end users or technical support staff to use and support programs. • Other duties as required.
• Contribute directly to the development of key platform features and components as an individual contributor, ensuring alignment with overall project goals. • Lead the end-to-end design and development of advanced healthcare software systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performing. • Design and implement solutions for healthcare transaction processing that comply with industry standards, including EDI, HL7, and FHIR. • Clearly communicate priorities and expectations to the team, ensuring they have the support and resources to complete their work effectively. • Take full ownership of the quality of all team-delivered features, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements with well-thought-out designs. • Identify gaps or areas for improvement in existing patterns.
