Job Description

Software Asset Manager

Your Remote Assistant

• Define and document software (and potentially hardware) asset management processes. • Design and create process workflows and supporting documentation. • Gather and load software metadata into system tools. • Write and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) plans. • Develop and deliver communications and training plans. • Transition project output to operational run teams as needed. • Execute or provide oversight for SAM and HAM (Hardware Asset Management) processes. • Manage IT assets that support service delivery, including software, licenses, keys, and contracts. • Maintain accurate and reliable asset information in inventory and asset management systems. • Ensure compliance with internal processes, financial guidelines, and audit requirements. • Implement and enhance process controls and performance monitoring metrics. • Create reports and dashboards that provide visibility at the operational and governance level. • Lead reconciliation of owned, installed, and recorded software assets. • Oversee asset lifecycle from request through retirement using approval-based controls. • Negotiate and manage software/hardware renewals and subscriptions. • Monitor and optimize software spending, license usage, and entitlements. • Support legal and financial risk mitigation in vendor contracts and asset use. • Administer service asset and configuration management (SACM) control processes. • Collaborate cross-functionally to manage requests, issues, and audits. • Provide leadership in managing vendor relationships, guiding staff, or driving improvement initiatives. • Support internal and external audits as required.

Job Requirements

  • 6–10 years of experience with a strong focus on software asset management, service asset & configuration management (SACM), and IT service management processes.
  • Proven expertise with tools such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, and MS Office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in software licensing, contract management, asset lifecycle management, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, execute, and optimize business-critical IT processes with minimal supervision.
  • Strong collaboration and mentoring skills

  • Willingness to work U.S. business hours
