CAST
• Manage scheduling and communication with podcast hosts across the City Cast network about their appearances on the show • Communicate episode prep expectations with city teams across the City Cast network, ensuring every guest arrives ready • Coordinate the weekly pitch process: remind city teams of submission deadlines, send pitches to the show’s host for selection, and relay decisions back to the team • Review weekly interview prep and provide light editorial feedback • Occasionally vet pitches from listeners, including preinterviewing guests outside the City Cast network • Produce episode recordings in Riverside • Edit episodes in Descript for editorial clarity and narrative flow, flagging potential social clips and noting cuts that will carry through to the video version • Edit podcast video in Adobe Premiere using Autopod • Edit and mix audio in Adobe Creative Suite, applying Izotope effects for professional, polished sound • Write and finalize show notes and episode title options, adapting both for each of the 14 city feeds • Create episode thumbnails in Canva, including sourcing screenshots from Riverside, removing backgrounds, and building out the graphic • Upload and schedule each episode to the CityCastUSA YouTube channel, including thumbnail, title, show notes, and playlist management • Schedule each episode across 14 distinct Megaphone feeds weekly, customizing titles for each feed with careful attention to detail • Conduct a final QC listen-through of the audio version and a review of the YouTube upload before each episode goes live • Create social clips from podcast episodes for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook • Write compelling captions and apply thoughtful tagging strategy tailored to each platform • Handle all video editing for social content, optimizing format and pacing for each channel • Serve as the primary point of contact for Your City Could Be Better listeners through our dedicated email account and social channels • Engage and activate our audience across platforms, fostering a community of people who care deeply about their cities
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in audio and/or video production, ideally in a podcast, news, or media environment
- Proficiency with Riverside, Descript, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with Autopod and Izotope effects is a strong plus
- A strong editorial sense — you know when an interview is working and how to shape a story for maximum impact
- Genuine enthusiasm for local news and civic affairs; you believe cities matter and love stories about how they work
- Solid research and fact-checking skills
- Experience producing and editing social video content across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
- Excellent communication and organizational skills — you’re the kind of person who stays on top of many moving pieces across multiple teams without breaking a sweat
- Experience working with distributed or remote teams a plus
