Associate Director – Settlement

• Lead and manage the global settlement function, including trade, deposit, and withdrawal operations across multiple asset classes • Strengthen governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices • Assess current processes, introduce automation, and implement system enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce manual work • Act as escalation point for complex settlement issues, partnering with Treasury, Finance, Risk, and Compliance, as well as banks, custodians, and regulators • Provide strategic oversight, reporting, and leadership to support team development and operational excellence

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field
  • 10+ years of settlement/operations experience, including leadership in traditional finance or large institutions
  • Proven expertise in governance, risk, and control frameworks, with track record in process improvement/automation
  • Strong knowledge of settlement practices across FX, securities, and/or digital assets
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in Mandarin and English

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Controller, this role provides comprehensive service in financial award management, compliance for the academic sponsored research portfolio of approximately $15 million. Key duties include creating, implementing and enforcing policies and practices that ensure sponsored activity is accurately recorded and reconciled, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) requirements are met, and financial reporting and analysis is complete, timely, and audit-ready. This position is the administrative liaison between the administrative core, the Office of Academic Research, and principal investigators (PIs). The incumbent has a broad scope and knowledge of research administration and financial matters.
