Senior Shopify Developer – Apps, Themes, AI Workflow
Kompetenz Kommerz
• Shopify App Development (main focus) • Build and maintain Shopify apps (embedded admin apps + backend services) • Work with Shopify Admin GraphQL , webhooks, app proxy, metafields/metaobjects • Implement auth, data sync, background jobs, and integrations (APIs, SFTP, PDFs, etc.) • Debug production issues end-to-end and ship fixes with clean PRs • Shopify Theme Development • Implement and extend themes (Liquid, sections/blocks, JSON templates, Dawn patterns) • Build storefront features with JavaScript (cart behavior, UI logic, performance) • Integrate app outputs into storefront (theme app extensions, scripts, blocks) • Basic Store Setup & Operations • Set up Shopify stores: products/collections, markets, shipping/taxes, payments, emails • Configure apps, theme structure, navigation, key pages, and basic QA • Document setup steps so others can repeat them • AI-Assisted Development (daily) • Use Cursor (and similar tools) to speed up delivery • Write prompts, review AI output, and turn it into production-quality code • Use AI for debugging and testing — without lowering code quality
Job Requirements
- Senior Shopify app development experience (real projects, not “installed apps”)
- Comfortable with: Node.js , Shopify CLI, Admin GraphQL, webhooks
- Bonus: Remix/React + Polaris, Prisma/SQLite
- Strong Shopify theme development Liquid, sections/blocks, JSON templates, JS storefront work
- Strong AI workflow
- Can develop efficiently with Cursor (or similar), and still keep quality high
- You know how to verify, test, and not ship AI-generated nonsense
- Can set up basic Shopify stores
- Confident in the fundamentals (settings, markets, shipping/taxes, payments, emails)
- Self-managed + disciplined: You communicate daily, unblock yourself, and finish tasks without being pushed
- Git/PR workflow + clean handovers
- Nice-to-have Shopify Functions (Cart Transform), Checkout Extensibility
- VPS basics (Linux/SSH, logs, PM2, Caddy/Nginx)
- Performance and accessibility mindset
- Experience shipping apps to multiple stores / environments
