Job Description

Substation Engineer – Physical

AECOM

• AECOM has a position available for a Substation Engineer with a specialization in physical substation design • The focus of your experience must be in the power delivery industry and be associated with electrical engineering with respect to the design of utility scale substation design • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered • Identifies discrepancies in results • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with high voltage substation design
  • EIT Certification
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation
  • Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 2 years of hire (preferred)
  • Knowledge of construction practices and constructability (preferred)
  • Experience with proposal writing and project estimating (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes (preferred)
  • Good knowledge of industry and technology trends specific to substations (preferred)
  • Familiar with applicable codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC) (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) (preferred)
  • Attention to detail and check the quality of own and others’ work
  • Ability to use sound engineering judgment
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details
