Scope of Position The Business Development Manager is responsible for creating and driving demand and brand preference for the Product portfolio. The BDM will plan, direct, coordinate and implement Business Development Strategies that coincide with the overall corporate goals. The BDM will lead the building of brand and product awareness, gaining specification and brand preference with a primary audience of Facility Maintenance Managers, Design Consultants, Corporate Account Engineering – as well as other pertinent stakeholders. Working with the Regional Sales Managers and Sales Agent Network, the BDM will identify growth opportunities, building on existing business relationships while building new relationships. The BDM will take ownership of the Project Pipeline. This position does not have direct reports. This position reports to the General Manager. This role is remote. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities - Develop metrics, sales goals, and growth strategy. - Identify growth opportunities, pursue, and build business relationships, and secure sales with key targets. - Promote complete breadth of Food Service products, supporting the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) - Supports Sales Reps and RSMs in each territory. - Partners with the Regional Managers and Reps, building awareness of product and product application with key customers and other stakeholders. - Build Awareness and gain specifications of all relevant products within identified sales targets. - Identify and pursue new sales opportunities; Follow through on high profile opportunities from inception to transaction. - Identifies and documents customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and current clients, sales reps, key decision makers. - Increase sales of all relevant products utilizing practical field and Food Service experience. - Utilize Food Service and market experience to establish credibility with sales targets. - Utilize, analyze, and share data derived from Food Service Market Intelligence Reports - Develops a thorough understanding of product portfolio; May also include a need to understand a broader range of Watts products based on customer interest/ needs. - Achieve corporate and regional sales and profit goals. - Participate in trade shows and industry events as required. - Evaluate overall market potential for designated products. - Relay VOC and competitor information to General Manager and Product Management. - Provide input for product feature enhancements and process improvements. - Utilize best in class specification programs, resources, and Revit models to increase specifications. - Establish self as Lead salesperson for designated sales targets, internally and externally. - Sales representatives, and sales department in product training opportunities - Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management to support new product development as well as marketing and sales of existing and new products. - Be the voice of the customer and promote customer centric mindset. - Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by General Manager or Company management. - Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency) - Travel Requirements: Estimated 65% Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Engineering, or related field or experience - Minimum 5 years of successful experience in sales and/or marketing management with cross channel/business experience with a very strong technical Proven track record of professional leadership and excellence. - A working knowledge of the applicable industry - Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication abilities - Proficiency of personal computer skills to include spreadsheets, word documents, and main frame operating systems. - Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues. - Able to work and foster a harmonious working relationship with co-workers. - Proven ability to identify key targets and make cold calls. - Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with SalesForce.Com is highly preferred.
