Technical Artist – Unreal

• Develop, maintain, and optimize materials, shaders, and VFX in Unreal Engine. • Own optimization workflows across the project (rendering, shaders, memory, lighting, asset streaming, etc.) • Build tools, blueprints, and scripts that improve artist workflows and efficiency. • Work across multiple disciplines in Unreal. • Debug technical issues across content, performance, and pipelines. • Write and maintain documentation for tools, procedures, and best practices across pipelines, tools, and procedures. • Work with Art, Engineering, and Design teams to ensure assets meet real-time performance targets. • Stay on top of current technology in Unreal.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Technical Artist or similar role in real-time projects.
- Expert-level proficiency in Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5).
- Strong proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting systems.
- Deep understanding of performance optimization (GPU/CPU profiling, LODs, shader complexity, draw call reduction, memory optimization).
- Strong experience authoring complex shaders/materials.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.
- Proactive and self-directed.
- Desirable pluses:**
- Solid understanding of HLSL or GLSL shader language.
- Strong Foundation in 3d math.
- Experience with Niagara VFX systems.
- Knowledge of character/rigging technical workflows.
- Experience in simulation systems and tools in Maya and Houdini.
- Understanding procedural workflows.
- Experience with Machine Learning, and AI.
- Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
