Job Description

VP Finance

Joko

• Lead and scale the Finance team: manage and develop the current 2 Finance Managers, recruit 2 additional headcount to double the team, and continue growing it as the company scales toward 200+ people across multiple geographies. Build a world-class finance organization; • Own the company's financial strategy: drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across all business lines (Online, Card-Linked, Gift Cards) and geographies (France, US, and future markets). Our current modeling approach combines elasticity-based CAC projections, cohort-based revenue models, and granular bottom-up cost budgets — you will own and continuously improve this; • Be the financial voice at the leadership table: partner with the COO and co-founders on key strategic decisions — market expansion, investment allocation, pricing, and business line prioritization; • Drive investor relations: be a key main touchpoint for investors, shareholders, and bankers on all financial topics. Own financial communication, reporting, and fundraising preparation; • Steer multi-country P&L management: own consolidated and country-level P&Ls (France, US, and upcoming markets), including transfer pricing, cost allocation, and local compliance; • Manage cash and working capital: ensure efficient cash management across a complex business with multiple payment flows, Gift Cards working capital needs, and multi-currency operations. Cash is king — make sure the whole company knows it; • Own financial reporting and controls: be responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budget vs. actuals tracking, and re-forecasts. Set up robust financial controls to prevent fraud and errors; • Drive cost efficiency at scale: lead cost optimization across the organization, negotiate key contracts with suppliers, and ensure every team is accountable for their cost targets. We are moving to granular bottom-up budgeting with clear ownership — you will champion this; • Raise the bar on accounting practices: drive disciplined monthly accounting closing across all geographies (France, US, and future markets). Build toward group consolidation respecting international standards (IFRS) as we scale into a multi-entity, multi-country organization. Ensure our accounting practices match the rigor expected of a company of our ambition; • Leverage AI to transform finance operations: we believe AI will fundamentally reshape how finance teams operate. You will be expected to lead this transformation — identifying where AI can automate repetitive work (reporting, reconciliation, data extraction), augment decision-making (forecasting, anomaly detection, scenario modeling), and ultimately allow a lean team to operate at the level of a much larger one. This is not a nice-to-have: we expect you to have a strong point of view on how AI changes the finance function and to actively drive its adoption across your team; • Coordinate with external partners: manage relationships with our external accountants, auditors, and financial advisors. Oversee monthly accounting of the P&L and balance sheet, annual closing, and the audit of our financial statements.

Job Requirements

  • Languages: You are fluent in English (the main language we use internally) and French (for relationships with our accountants and the administration), both written and spoken. International experience is highly valued as we expand across multiple markets.
  • Experience: You have 10+ years of experience combining both traditional finance (corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, transaction services, or audit) and a senior finance leadership role in a high-growth tech company or scale-up. We need both: the technical rigor from traditional finance and the hands-on experience of building a finance function in a fast-scaling environment. You have a proven track record of leading a team. Experience scaling a company from tens of millions to hundreds of millions in revenue and/or operating in multi-country or multi-entity setting is a strong plus.
  • Strategic mindset: You think like a business partner, not just a finance controller. You can connect financial analysis to business decisions, and you're comfortable challenging leadership with data-backed recommendations.
  • Financial modeling and analysis: You have deep expertise in financial planning and analysis. You're comfortable building and owning complex models — from cohort-based revenue projections to elasticity-based cost models. You know how to extract signal from noise and build projections that actually help make decisions.
  • Stakeholder management and communication: You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. You can present complex financial topics to a senior audience with clarity and conviction. You're not afraid to expose and defend your decisions with demanding stakeholders, including co-founders, investors, and external partners.
  • Accounting expertise: You have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. You know what it takes to run rigorous monthly closings across multiple entities and geographies, and you have experience with or a clear vision for building group consolidation under international standards (IFRS).
  • Operational rigor: You are structured, data-driven, and detail-oriented. You love solving complex problems by breaking them down into actionable pieces. You have a talent for spotting flaws and building processes that prevent them.
  • International finance: You have experience with or strong appetite for multi-country financial operations — including multi-currency management, international tax considerations, and building finance operations in new markets.
  • AI-native mindset: You have a strong conviction that AI will transform the finance function. You actively use AI tools in your work today, and you have a clear vision for how AI can automate, augment, and accelerate finance operations — from reporting and reconciliation to forecasting and analysis. You are excited to build an AI-first finance team.
  • Mindset: You are passionate about Finance and about building something exceptional. You thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments. You have an entrepreneurial mindset, you like getting hands-on, and you're energized by the idea of scaling a company from tens of millions of revenue to billions.

Benefits

  • Flexible remote: If you live in Paris, you can choose to work from our office or from home with no constraints. If you live elsewhere, we can provide access to a coworking space and a coworking budget.
  • Work from anywhere: Want to spend a month in Italy while working? You can work from most countries in the world for up to 3 months per year.
  • Top-market compensation
  • Equity for everyone with the chance to own a piece of what you build
  • Half-day each week dedicated to leveling up with AI by exploring new tools, iterating hard, and sharpening your skills
  • Yearly offsite in amazing locations and budget for team-building events & monthly in-person gatherings
  • Contribution to your ClassPass subscription
  • 8-week leave paid 100% for the second parent
