Developer Events Manager

Prefect Technologies, Inc.

• Drive Prefect's event strategy from conception to execution, converting our developer communities into commercial revenue through authentic technical relationships. You'll own the full lifecycle of our event presence - from identifying the right conferences to attend to designing world-class developer-focused experiences that pull data engineers, MCP/Context engineers, and AI/ML engineers into our ecosystem. Build the PyAI brand through strategic community engagement while leveraging Prefect's physical spaces to increase community and customer impact that drives our product-led sales motion. • Develop and execute comprehensive event strategies across all Prefect products, including program mix, calendar planning, and audience targeting • Partner directly with leadership team to ensure alignment on event priorities and presence • Own budget planning, ROI measurement, and performance reporting for all event initiatives • Lead execution of hosted and sponsored events across global markets - managing logistics, budgets, vendors, and onsite operations • Work cross-functionally to coordinate speaker preparation, booth presence, and attendee engagement • Design experiences that showcase Prefect's platforms to data engineers, ML engineers, and other developers • Manage multiple events simultaneously, attending key flagship events while remotely coordinating logistics for others • Own end-to-end execution of customer advisory events in partnership with product and sales teams • Launch and manage online community initiatives including forums, user groups, and ambassador programs • Build contributor programs that engage technical practitioners in content creation and open source participation • Create engagement strategies that bridge open source users with enterprise customer opportunities • Oversee full event lifecycle from driving registrations to post-event lead nurturing across all developer events

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years managing developer communities and events, with progression from execution to strategic leadership
  • Background in developer advocacy, developer relations, or technical community building—you're someone who can credibly engage with engineers, introduce technical speakers, and hold your own in conversations about Python, data infrastructure, or AI tooling
  • Proven track record launching and scaling community programs (forums, user groups, ambassador programs)
  • Experience working with technical audiences in infrastructure, DevOps, API, or data engineering spaces
  • Strong metrics-driven approach to community growth and engagement measurement
  • Background coordinating with engineering and product teams to amplify technical content and thought leadership
