Role Description - Manage all aspects of assigned collection cases from inception through resolution. - Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents. - Represent clients in court proceedings. - Negotiate settlements and payment arrangements with opposing counsel and debtors. - Conduct legal research to support case strategy and ensure compliance with state and federal laws. - Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in case management systems. - Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. - Ensure adherence to client guidelines and firm policies. - Collaborate with internal teams including litigation support and compliance. Qualifications - The candidate must be a member of good standing of the Colorado Bar. - 3+ years of legal experience, preferably in collections, creditors’ rights, or civil litigation. - Strong knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and relevant state laws. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment. - Proficient in legal research tools and case management software. Role Description An Attorney I is the primary attorney assigned to a caseload defending 1 and 3 party cases relating to the defense of personal injury lawsuits. Most cases are valued at $50,000 or less. Cases are handled from inception through posttrial motions including bench trials, jury trials, and binding arbitration. Essential Job Functions: - Comprehensive review of new and transfer file assignments with initial evaluation letter to claims and service of initial discovery within 30 days of receipt of assignment. - Summarizing discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of receipt. - Taking and defending depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses and completion of deposition summaries within 20 days. - Law and motion: legal research; preparation of motions, oppositions and replies to motion; court appearance at law and motion. - Trial preparation, trial and posttrial motions, including preparation of pretrial documents, motions in limine and oppositions thereto; all facets of a jury trial, trial motions and posttrial motions. - Other miscellaneous tasks as may be necessary to adequately defend the insured including assignments from managing and senior managing attorneys.
