Principal Software Engineer - AI CTO Engineering
Red River Technology
Role Description Red Hat's Office of the CTO is looking for a full time AI Engineer to join our team in Ireland. You will join an AI engineering team whose mandate is to improve the performance, safety and reliability of AI enabled applications in both greenfield and brownfield projects. You will collaborate with other engineering teams at Red Hat to develop new features and components, and improve the capabilities of existing intelligent systems. The ideal candidate is energized by working concurrently on a wide variety of projects, independently as well as within a team environment. - Provide technical leadership and engineering to improve the performance, safety, and reliability of AI based intelligent applications. - Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive projects to successful completion and to scale AI focused initiatives across the organisation. - Participate and gain standing in upstream communities of interest. - Design and conduct experiments to understand the behavior of AI models and their surrounding application systems. - Make informed, data centric decisions on the applicability of adopting certain tools and how best to deploy and enable them within projects. - Apply a data driven approach to application or system changes, including large scale performance benchmarking. - Work with applications in cloud native settings, including Kubernetes and containerized deployments. - Communicate about projects, AI and data science technologies with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders and make Red Hat a leader in the ecosystem. - Publicize innovations through blogs, presentations, conferences and other technical venues. Qualifications - AI/ML related course work or independent project work with evidence of completion. - Advanced programming skills in Python or other high level languages. - Ability to work with Cloud Native technologies and platforms, including Kubernetes and containers. - Understanding of systems design and architecture, as it applies to AI enabled applications. - Strong self-motivation and organizational skills, especially in Agile ways of working. - Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects, independently and within a team environment. - Ability to mentor, grow and support more junior engineers within the organization. - Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. - Collaborative attitude and willingness to share ideas openly. - Comfortable working in ambiguity as emerging technologies mature. Requirements - Experience with Red Hat technologies such as RHEL, OpenShift and Ansible. - Familiarity with Kubernetes and containers and general orchestration approaches. - Passion for developing open source software. - Experience with open source AI/ML models and frameworks.
