Full-Stack Software Engineer, Scientist – Virtual Sensing

Switzerland Global Enterprise

• Build and deploy edge-native software components for decentralized operation, sensing, and control • Develop federated data pipelines for secure collaboration of distributed nodes • Develop and deploy robust virtual sensing algorithms for critical power grid parameters • Integrate field data sources and IoT protocols/networks • Collaborate with power systems engineers for validating virtual sensor accuracy • Support experimentation and prototyping in simulation environments and test sites • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML capabilities and digital twins into grid platforms • Work closely with data scientists and infrastructure specialists

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the power or industrial system domain
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in building real-time or simulation-based systems
  • Experience in integrating virtual sensor outputs into control loops for real-time monitoring
  • Strong skills in script writing using MATLAB, Go, Rust, Python, HTML, CSS, TypeScript/React or Angular
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes/K3s, Kafka/NATS, MQTT, gRPC, Pulsar, InfluxDB/TimescaleDB
  • Solid understanding of control theory and signal processing techniques
  • Familiarity with grid operations, DER management, and industrial IoT/IIoT
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML models in production environments
  • Knowledge of grid standards or protocols (e.g., IEEE 2030.5, IEC 61850, OpenFMB)
