• Manage a litigation docket and carry out a full range of litigation tasks, including conducting legal and factual research, developing legal theories, and drafting comments, complaints, petitions, motions, and briefs. • Provide legal, policy, and subject-matter expertise to CATF programs, including collaborating with program experts and outside consultants on CATF’s advocacy efforts. • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients and partner organizations. • Supervise and mentor legal fellows, interns, and paralegals on specific projects and tasks, including research assignments, drafting rulemaking comments, and preparing court filings. • Work with CATF’s Communications and Marketing team to serve as a spokesperson for CATF.

• Provide subject matter expertise on child welfare law, court processes, and judicial best practices, with particular emphasis on Tribal child welfare courts and Tribal–state collaboration. • Advise on legal frameworks impacting Tribal communities, including application of ICWA and Tribal sovereignty considerations. • Support local and cross-site evaluations by contributing legal and court practice perspectives to evaluation designs, frameworks, and interpretation of findings related to child welfare systems. • Provide technical assistance to grant recipients and partners on child welfare court practice, legal compliance, and incorporation of evidence-informed court strategies. • Contribute to development and review of tools, briefs, and resources that document promising and best practices in child welfare court operations. • Collaborate with federal staff, evaluators, Tribal partners, courts, and child welfare practitioners to support knowledge sharing and alignment with Children’s Bureau priorities. • Support dissemination of findings and best practices through reports, webinars, convenings, and other knowledge-sharing activities.

This role is well suited for mid-level commercial generalists who bring solid core commercial contracting experience and exposure to manufacturing or supply chain environments, even if not a subject-matter expert. - Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial agreements, including NDAs, MSAs, distribution agreements, supply and procurement agreements, and services agreements. - Support supply chain and manufacturing-focused contracts, including vendor, supplier, and operations-related agreements. - Provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance on contract terms, risk allocation, and negotiation strategy. - Assist clients with large commercial contracting initiatives, including contract standardization and remediation projects. - Support contract lifecycle management (CLM) efforts, including implementation, optimization, and ongoing contract operations. - Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (procurement, operations, finance, and compliance) to align contracts with business objectives. - Contribute to contract playbooks, templates, and process improvements to support scalable contracting operations. - Support or interface with international teams or international counterparties, as needed. Qualifications - JD or equivalent, with active bar membership in good standing. - 5-14 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in-house or in a commercial-focused practice. - Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating core commercial contracts. - Ability to manage high-volume workloads efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail. - Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills. - Comfortable working remotely or in hybrid environments.
