Field Support Engineer II

• Diagnose and repair all designated products within an assigned service territory, including preventative maintenance, installations and upgrades per specific training, manuals and Carl Zeiss Meditec guidelines. • Schedule, create, verify and/or modify customer visits as appropriate, by assessing customers’ needs, which may include financial impact to the practice, and patients’ well-being. • Complete and submit a field service report on a daily basis according to written procedures as documented in the Field Service reference database. • Complete and submit a weekly expense report according to Carl Zeiss Meditec policies and procedures. • Maintain spare parts inventory according to company guidelines and return specific spare parts as designated by policy. • Support revenue growth through the promotion and retention of service agreements. • Interface with customers in a professional, pleasant and calm demeanor. • Other duties may include, but are not limited to, instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, Optics or Medical Field Service.
  • BS in Electronics, Engineering, or Computer Technology and related fields preferred.
  • A+ and Net+ certification preferred.
  • Ability to think through difficult customer issues and generate satisfactory customer satisfaction results.
  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently with limited management oversight.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills.
  • Must be able to pass required training to service fine mechanics and optics.
  • Ability to effectively service the equipment on which training is completed.
  • Multiple project and time management skills are required.

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is a professional who provides valuable services to our customers by conducting onsite field visits. FSE responsibilities include installation, repairing, and maintenance of Cepheid diagnostic equipment in a compliant manner. Role Description Opportunity for remote work (requires some travel) for an independent and self-motivated safety professional. The successful candidate will: - Partner with Corporate EH&S Manager, Division Managers, Regional Managers, and Operations Field Personnel to ensure hydroelectric project facility compliance with Company Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and risk reduction protocols and procedures. - Lead, manage and enforce environmental, health, and safety on several hydroelectric dam and powerhouse facilities. - Identify, eliminate and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and or property damage using sound judgement and cooperative approaches. - Manage annual training requirements in collaboration with Corporate EH&S Manager and Division/Regional Management. - Assist in coordinating training and proactively identify opportunities for improved training and culture steering. While this position is advertised as remote, we are only considering candidates currently residing in Albany, NY, Middletown, NY, or Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA areas due to the travel expectation associated with the role. • The Rotational Start-up Engineer position provides field support on specific projects for Operations, Maintenance, Design, and Construction from pre-IFA through construction to post-construction. • This position reports directly to the Facility Engineer Supervisor based in Anchorage. • Work involves on-site field coordination with the Projects team, meeting with the Project Lead, Supervisor/Superintendent, and Facility Engineer to determine tasks needed to progress execution on schedule. • Walk down P&IDs to ensure accuracy or resolve discrepancies. • Responsible for project walk downs and sign-off for mechanical completions. • Complete forms required for commissioning, startup, and Operations turnover. • Provide engineering technical support and constructability feedback to Operations. • Track and manage RFIs to ensure Operations is aware of design changes. • Assist with the procurement process to identify vendor support, quotes, start-up spares, and critical spares as required. • Create and manage the MOCs for all phases of operation and assign all tasks. • Audit PHAs and PPRs to ensure all issues are adequately addressed before equipment startup. • Evaluate field changes (ie. PCR, RFI, ECAR) to determine if they affect the PHA. • Develop commissioning plan, startup plan, and Preventative Maintenance for Operations. • Ensure documentation flow requirements are complete prior to turnover. • Track punch list and outstanding work items to completion per Operations standards. • Coordinate with Automation to ensure sufficient information is provided, including FCO schedule. • Verify operator adjustable set-points with Board Operators and Automation Engineers. • Other duties for the project to be successful may require marking up drawings, assist with troubleshooting post start-up, and any other project close out requirements.
