Must be able to obtain or currently possess a U.S. security clearance, requires U.S. citizenship and residency in the United States About the opportunity A Cloud Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure solutions. This role involves working with various cloud service providers, such as Azure to architect scalable and resilient systems that meet the organization's needs. The Cloud Systems Engineer collaborates with other P&T professionals to ensure the successful deployment and operation of cloud-based applications and services. In addition, this role includes ongoing infrastructure lifecycle management, vulnerability remediation, patch management, and operational support. The Cloud Systems Engineer partners with Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, and application teams to maintain compliant and reliable environments supporting mission critical systems. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems outside of standard business hours. What you’ll get to do - Cloud Infrastructure Design: Design, architect, and implement cloud infrastructure solutions based on business requirements and best practices. - Deployment and Configuration: Deploy and configure cloud services, including virtual machines, containers, databases, and networking components. - Automation: Develop automation scripts and templates for provisioning, configuration management, and orchestration of cloud resources using tools like Terraform or Ansible - Security: Implement security best practices and compliance standards for cloud environments, including encryption, and network security. - Monitoring and Optimization: Set up monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address performance issues, optimize resource utilization, and reduce costs. - Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Design and implement disaster recovery and high availability solutions to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime. - Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity professionals, to support cloud-based applications and services. - Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and standard operating procedures. - Training and Support: Provide training and support to internal teams on cloud technologies and best practices. Skills and experience we value - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). - Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure solutions. - Proficiency in one or more cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure. - Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and load balancing. - Experience with infrastructure as code tools and techniques. - Knowledge of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools. - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect). - Experience with hybrid cloud environments and migration strategies. - Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and microservices. - Familiarity with compliance frameworks, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2.
